Hotel Rytwiany Nowy Dworek

A pure taste of Morocco has landed in Poland via this delightful little restaurant. An intimate and relaxing spot, it’s decorated with clay pots and ornate hanging lamps – a lovely setting for the authentic, impressively constructed dishes. The beef tagine is a Moroccan classic and sums up the kitchen’s skills perfectly, with plenty of flavour from the meat and a wonderful balance of tastes and textures throughout. The crisp millefeuille should be a go-to for dessert, while the refreshing mint tea is the perfect end note for a heartening experience.

Don’t be fooled by this restaurant’s low-key exterior, for inside it’s a brightly decorated wonderland filled with antiques, gilding and vibrant murals. It’s an understandably popular place that’s run well by a joyful team, while the cooking offers something for everyone. International options include ramen and Thai soup, while the assuredly cooked prime meats could include deer tenderloin or wild boar. Bedrooms are available if you’re staying overnight.

Run by the same team as Naama in the city centre, this suburban spot has a stylishly modern feel, while its voile curtains dividing the tables add an intimate air. The house-made sourdough gets the meal off to a great start, before the carefully conceived and skilfully executed dishes such as butterflied trout with braised cabbage and tomatoes. Add in the warm, friendly service and you have all the ingredients of a perfect neighbourhood haunt.

Situated on the beautiful main square in the historic city centre, keep an eye out for this restaurant’s discreet entrance, which hides behind it a series of interconnecting rooms bursting with the buzz of contented diners. The menu has a surf ’n’ turf approach and a strong Japanese influence, exemplified by the sushi selection and a choice of prime produce cooked on the robata grill. The aged steaks are a popular choice and understandably so.

With its sage-green walls, natural wooden furnishings and paintings of Tuscan landscapes, Mela Rossa brings a small slice of Italy to Radom. The chef spent 12 years in ‘Il Bel Paese’ and it shows in authentic dishes showcasing high-quality, well-sourced ingredients cooked with care. The homemade pasta is a highlight, with different shapes thoughtfully paired with the appropriate accompaniment – such as squid-ink trenette with prawns and a bisque-style sauce.

Tucked away down a cul-de-sac filled with several other eateries, this understandably popular brasserie is underpinned by the flame-centric cooking of the Josper grill. Top-quality produce from jumbo prawns to beef tenderloin are grilled with skill and served with simple, complementary garnishes. Enjoy the cooking on the terrace, in the conservatory or in the main dining room near the buzzing open kitchen. The efficient team run the busy space with skill.
