Mosconi

Italian · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Gracious Simonetta and veteran chef Ilario Mosconi have been adding an exuberant note to Luxembourg’s fine dining scene since 1986. Originally from Lombardy, the couple welcomes you into a handsome townhouse steeped in swish elegance and boasting a terrace by the River Alzette. The secret of their success no doubt lies in their overriding desire to please their guests. In true Italian tradition, the cuisine is founded on first-class ingredients and everything is made from scratch in a pared back culinary ethos. Rather than a glut of ingredients, each subtle dish sings an ode to the south court

Le Lys

Modern Cuisine, French · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Take a break from the frantic pace of daily life and immerse yourself in the classically appointed Le Lys, dripping in romanticism. The restaurant is established in the historic Villa Pétrusse Hotel, built in 1880 and restored from top to toe. You have a choice of dining rooms, among which the extravagant Renaissance Marie-Thérèse salon whose huge mirrors and frescoes are the epitome of luxury and historic cachet. Chef Kim De Dood has returned to his roots to blend Luxembourg cuisine with big-boned Asian overtones in a superlative venue. Expect to sample a repertory that reveals the chef’s hig

Ryôdô

Japanese · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Ryôdô embodies Japan’s legendary respectful lifestyle in the heart of Luxemburg’s suburbs. The luminous interior and light wooden furnishings are suitably minimalist and the food is exquisitely served by women attired in kimonos who have a knack for setting you at your ease. It is well worth savouring this fervent admiration of tradition. The lunchtime score is either à la carte or a choice of kaiseki and bento menus, while in the evening, you can choose between Sushi, Vegan or Tasting menus. Chef Ryôdô Kajiwara delicately expresses the full gamut of Japanese subtlety, calling upon the pure-br

La Villa de Camille et Julien

french · ★ Michelin

€€€

Camille Tardif and Julien Lucas’ knock-out villa is a genuine ode to top-drawer Gallic ingredients. Only the best produce, like Brittany lobster and Provence asparagus, gets onto the table. Chef Lucas learnt the ropes in top French restaurants, notably with Joël Robuchon, as you will quickly taste in his high-flying repertory. His steadfast commitment to sustainable development and his love of Luxemburg produce demonstrate how in tune with his era he is. His delicate craftsmanship and flawless technique can be appreciated in dishes like hare à la royale crafted to textbook perfection: strong g

Mediterranean Cuisine, Sharing · Bib

€€

A waft of Beirut, a whiff of Athens and a gust of Tel Aviv and Marrakech: this bustling restaurant brings together the best of the Mediterranean. Kick off your meal with a freshly shaken cocktail at the bar as you try and make your choice from the bewildering array of delicacies to share. How about a ceviche, perfectly balanced between sweet and tangy flavours, a velvety houmous or the ever-popular mezze? Spices and fruity flavours subtly underscore each dish. We must admit to having fallen head over heels with the grilled aubergine in tahini, confit garlic and peaches – to die for!

Grünewald Chef’s Table

Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin

€€€€

An open kitchen framed by a green marble counter occupies the centre of this stylishly appointed, street corner edifice. The counter seats are particularly popular, but there is also a friendly communal table available. It is a pleasure to admire Clovis Degrave and his team, who are more than happy to chat and share with diners. We recommend the several course set menu that blends creativity with Japanese serenity. The chef avows a weakness for exceptional ingredients, whose quality he underscores thanks to amusing textures and big-boned sauces. For example, he may gently sear a slice of Balfeg

Seasonal Cuisine, Vegetarian · ★ Michelin

€€€€

René Mathieu has set up shop in the Airfield Hotel as he pursues his work with plants. This champion of Luxembourg’s terroir and of the rich plant world continues to grow without disavowing his ambitious or innovative streak. His unorthodox approach to vegetables, herbs and fruits is truly impressive. He presents the raw ingredients of each of his dishes, explaining their qualities and how he cooks them. Chef Mathieu endeavours to shine the spotlight on authentic natural flavours, underscoring them subtly and intensely. His sauces further enhance each dish, adding suave smoky notes which are t

Fani

italian · ★ Michelin

€€€€

La cucina italiana has no secrets for Roberti Fani. After earning a Michelin star in his homeland, he has put down his roots in the Luxembourg village of Roeser, where he demonstrates how far his cuisine has evolved. On the ground-floor of a rather ordinary residential complex, he has opened a snug, stylish establishment, in the company of a seamless professional front-of-house team and a first-rate sommelier. Chef Fani is a seasoned chef who deploys his immense know-how apparently effortlessly in the kitchen, while his brigade of young chefs adds their own creative spin. You might taste class
