Il Trillo

Country cooking, Classic Cuisine

€€€

On the hills overlooking the town, an ancient residence transformed into a refined hospitality venue – and today home also to the estate’s own winery – receives its guests in surroundings of considerable elegance. A charm that reaches its apogee in the warmer months, when dinner is served in the evocative limonaia: a romantic panoramic terrace bathed in soft light and surrounded by lemon, orange, bergamot and mandarin trees. Extra

Italian Contemporary, Seasonal Cuisine

€€

Situated slightly inland behind Marina di Carrara, Extra (the name refers to the quality of the region’s world-famous marble) is a bright, modern restaurant with a menu inspired by the area’s fish and seafood culinary traditions. The menu is slightly more elaborate and the ambience more elegant in the evening and on Saturday lunchtimes.

La Péniche

Seafood, Mediterranean Cuisine

A corner of France along the Brugiano Canal. We eat in a stilt house with original and romantic settings that marry colonial style and Parisian model with a very warm and romantic result. Vast à la carte choices, there is something for everyone, from a list devoted entirely to oysters to some of Spain's most famous products, such as pata negra and anchovies from the Cantabrian Sea, as well as, of course, many more elaborate meat and fish dishes. In summer, tables on the raft are coveted, recalling the péniches on the Seine even more. Best to make reservations well in advance.
