Situated on the first floor of the 13C military fort in the centre of Rubiera, this elegant restaurant boasts five dining rooms, each one more delightful than the last and all frescoed, with the exception of the old limonaia which is decorated with wallpaper depicting its former function. This stylish and romantic setting provides the backdrop for young and enthusiastic chef Jacopo Malpeli who, having been born and raised between Parma and Reggio, creates cuisine that reflects the grandeur and opulence of local culinary traditions. Among his many interesting dishes, a particular favourite is t

On arriving in Via Stella, one immediately senses how naturally this restaurant frees itself from frills and accolades, embracing instead a sober elegance, enhanced by major works of contemporary art that reflect Massimo Bottura’s personal passion. The same measured language returns in the kitchen, where greatness is expressed through control, balance and vision: a narrative that begins in Modena and Emilia before reaching towards the great international classics, reinterpreted by the chef with that playful lightness which reminds us that food should first and foremost be pleasure, memory and

Just a minute’s drive from the Campogalliano motorway exit, this ultra-classic restaurant has made a name for itself over the years thanks to its excellent price-quality ratio, which has remained surprisingly stable even at times when inflation has been high. The menu features numerous traditional Emilian dishes — gnocco fritto, tortellini, and Emilian-style “fritto misto” — alongside some of the great classics of Italian cuisine. The finale is left to the cake counter, situated right at the entrance to the restaurant: a riot of homemade desserts that invites you to choose whatever takes your

Situated in a period palazzo near one of Modena’s oldest churches (the façade of Santa Maria della Pomposa dates from the medieval period and the church was rebuilt in 1717), this recently restored, modern and minimalist restaurant has just nine tables and is adorned with contemporary paintings on its walls. There are numerous options here: a tasting menu which focuses on historic Emilian recipes (tortellini in capon broth, tagliatelle in a Modena-style ragù etc); a second menu featuring the chef’s latest dishes; a vegetarian option; and an à la carte which includes many of the restaurant’s ho

The top floor of the Executive Spa Hotel opens up like a lounge suspended between the sky and the hills: fine dining by chef Mattia Trabetti overlooks an elegant rooftop, where glass walls let in soft light and a relaxing view of the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of the Castle. Before sitting down, you can start – or end – the evening in the adjacent Cocktail Bar Aria, also up there, among reflections and panoramic views. There are two tasting menus (but each dish is also available à la carte): “Modena Safari” and the vegetarian “Emilia vegetale”. Browsing the menu, a small map shows the ori

Arnaldo - Clinica Gastronomica

Crossing the threshold of this fifteenth-century palace next to Hotel Aquila d’Oro is like stepping into an Emilian tale of aromas, flavors, and memory. Rolling carts take center stage: antipasti featuring hand-carved prosciutto and erbazzone, desserts with zabaione to pour over pears in red wine, and the essential parade of roasts and boiled meats. The sfogline (pasta makers) prepare fresh pasta each morning, served in broth or with rich sauces. Arnaldo is a hymn to tradition: no frills, just authentic taste!

In the rooms of an old farmhouse that “Drake” Enzo Ferrari purchased, along with the entire area now dedicated to the iconic Maranello factory and symbol of Italy in the world, to make it a company canteen later transformed from 1950 into a proper restaurant, today the creative vein of Massimo Bottura is expressed through the work of his student Riccardo Forapani and of Virginia Cattaneo. The most orthodox regional cuisine – the tortellini from Tortellante are unmissable – is therefore also represented with refined customizations, as with Mòdna, the Sachertorte in a customized version with sou

A corner of Puglia at Modena’s doorstep: not a masseria, but an old mill that welcomes with the aromas and flavors of the heel of Italy. Vegetables reign supreme – stuffed peppers, eggplant parmigiana, fava purée with chicory – while, despite being in egg-pasta territory, fresh Mediterranean interpretations shine. Among the entrées, ample space is given to meats cooked over live embers, the authentic heart of Puglian tradition. To close, desserts arrive in a large basket: small delights, often featuring dried fruit and chocolate, celebrating a simple and genuine indulgence.
