Evvai
Modern Cuisine, Brazilian · ★★★ Michelin

It is rare to encounter a restaurant that expresses, without restraint, its chef's desire and passion for gastronomy, life, and nature — yet at Evvai, that is precisely what you will find! The concept of chef Luiz Filipe Souza, which successfully fuses Brazilian and Italian influences, yields dishes that are not only visually stunning but also brimming with skill, knowledge, and balance — it is remarkable how the chef manipulates temperatures as though they were simply another texture. The offering takes the form of a single tasting menu called Oriundi — a symbol of cultural exchange — beginni

Jun Sakamoto
Japanese · ★ Michelin
$$$$
A highly unusual restaurant that could almost pass unnoticed as it has no external signage to show that it exists! Here, everything revolves around owner-chef Sakamoto, a man with lots of personality who is said to make the best nigiri in São Paulo. If you have the opportunity, we recommend sitting at the sushi bar, where the focus is on two Omakase tasting menus–one prepared by Jun Sakamoto himself, the other by his right-hand man, chef Ryuzo Nishimura (the price of the menu will depend on which of them does the cooking). For those sitting at the bar, the nigiris (such as Bluefin tuna, salmon

Ever wondered what a fusion of Brazilian and Mexican cooking would taste like? The answer is... simply wonderful! Chefs Luana Sabino and Eduardo Nava Ortiz, who met while working at a restaurant in New York, decided to pool their know-how to treat our palates to an incredible concept. The menu marries the techniques and traditions of authentic Mexican cooking with fresh Brazilian ingredients, creating dishes that champion seasonality and celebrate the best of each ingredient. You can choose à la carte or go for the nine-moment tasting menu, which includes the refreshing starter Aguachile de ma

A unique gastronomic proposal presented by Alex Atala, Brazil’s most internationally renowned chef, shows that, even immersed in various projects, he always has something to say. The experience takes shape in a single tasting menu inspired by the jaguar, the largest feline in the Americas, portrayed through the menu: “Quando a onça bebe água” [When the jaguar drinks water] (also available in a vegetarian version). The proposal transports us through the flavours of the country’s great natural areas, with a succession of little‑known ingredients (priprioca roots, yam, ants, jambu [Acmella], tucu

KANOE

An unusual and exclusive restaurant that is more akin to a secret dining club, where guests dine at the same time and important details are requested before they arrive (such as if they are right- or left-handed, if they have any allergies, or if they prefer sake or wine, etc). In the bright interior, with its minimalist decor and impressive dining counter with just nine seats, the aim is to resurrect classic and authentic Japanese cuisine using ancestral techniques that make full use of the best market ingredients (scallops with sea salt, sea bream with yuzu, yellowtail with sesame, horse mac

Maní

Should you wish to spend a day shopping, with a great spot to eat and recharge, the sleek JK Iguatemi mall, in Vila Olímpia, is an excellent choice, home to a wealth of luxury brands. On the third floor, this lively restaurant surprises with its design and luminosity — a vast, open space filled with plants that, in its own way, calls to mind the inside of a greenhouse. The acclaimed chef Helena Rizzo, who sets the direction of the restaurant, offers an extensive menu featuring some specialities from Maní, her MICHELIN-starred gastronomic restaurant. What should you order? Everything is delicio

An innovative dining option in the trendy Pinheiros district of the city. The focus here is very much on Japanese culture, with cuisine inspired by yōshoku cooking which reinterprets Western-style dishes to Asian tastes. Chef Thiago Bañares offers just a single menu option, albeit with a cutting-edge touch and one that includes Brazilian ingredients in his dishes. The latter include a selection of hot options, such as the Eryngil mushrooms, which is combined with chicken broth, tucupi and mustard seeds, plus matured fish cooked on the grill. It’s worth saving space at the end of your meal for

If you have a craving for a good bowl of pasta, book a table at Picchi, an Italian restaurant located on the ground floor of the Regent Park hotel in the Jardins district with its upscale boutiques and art galleries. Here, chef Pier Paolo Picchi looks back to his childhood memories to create highly interesting cuisine that is showcased in enticing dishes based around classic Italian recipes and, in some cases, a more innovative approach that makes full use of the best seasonal Brazilian ingredients.
