If you have yet to discover the modern cuisine of Trás-os-Montes, the “wonderful kingdom” extolled by the renowned writer Miguel Torga, you cannot miss this restaurant, an example of honesty, passion and a desire to excel. Expertly run by the Geadas brothers, with the media-savvy Óscar in the kitchen while António supervises the dining room and acts as sommelier, it boasts a classic décor and a spectacular view over the city’s fortress. Chestnuts, mushrooms, aromatic herbs, variants of the typical alheira sausage, a cheese trolley... local products take the lead in various menus: a seasonal on

In a location opposite the Palacio de Congresos de Castilla y León that is relatively easy to find despite being away from the city’s main tourist haunts, Víctor Gutiérrez, a chef who admits to having a 'Spanish soul and a Peruvian heart', showcases cuisine based around three strong principles: ingredients, technique and feeling. Now, ably supported in the kitchen by his daughters (Paula as head chef and Andrea as maître d'), he offers a fairly limited à la carte service and a single tasting menu called Raíces (14 courses) which reveal his full passion and an unquestionable splash of creativit

Here the chef Rocío Parra, always well supported in the dining room and in the wine cellar by her husband (Alberto Rodríguez), remains faithful to a modern cuisine with local and traditional roots. Her proposal focuses on two tasting menus, Granito and Pizarra, whose name is a small tribute to the characteristics of t

El Ermitaño is accessed by a minor road flanked by vegetable gardens and fields of corn, a setting which reaffirms the gastronomic, cultural and family legacy of this aristocratic country house which retains close links with its surroundings and boasts an adjoining hermitage dating back to 1775. The Pérez brothers (Pedro Mario and Óscar Manuel), who look for contentment in even the smallest of things and who, in their own words, 'cook what we are', remain loyal to their history, their heritage and to their different yet complementary personalities. The more informal venture by the Geadas brothers (Óscar and António), who, after their success at the renowned G Pousada, now seek to reaffirm their love and commitment to their homeland. Here, they advocate traditional cuisine aimed at promoting the local recipe repertoire, taking the authenticity of Bragança’s products to the wider world. In addition to dishes like Aunt Mariema’s tasty samosas (which can be vegetarian or meat), generous scallops with cockle couscous (made from Barbela wheat typical of Trás-os-Montes), you can find game options such as wild boar sirloin served with chestnut p

A modern gastro-bar with the soul of a restaurant located just a few metres from the city’s iconic Plaza Mayor. At Bambú, the open kitchen, traditional cuisine and grilled dishes reinterpreted from a more contemporary perspective are the main highlights, although you’ll also find hints of fusion and strong flavours from other parts of the world. Choose between tapas, half-plates and dishes designed for sharing, alongside an interesting tasting menu. Under the baton of Luis Alberto Lera, the restaurant (which is also home to a few attractive guestrooms) has continued to evolve, incorporating more contemporary techniques into traditional recipes while continuing to respect the latter. It also acts as a culinary reference for game and hunting in order to showcase the gastronomic traditions of this region. Choose between an impressive set menu entitled Tierra de
