It is hardly surprising that this restaurant is so popular. As well as charming and attentive service, diners are drawn by the regionally influenced cuisine conjured up by chef-patron Sven Molitor. Made using carefully selected ingredients, his dishes reveal talent and good craftsmanship. They are down-to-earth, but also show a certain finesse here and there. On the menu, for example, the delicious spinach and cheese dumplings will whet your appetite. The likeable traditional family-run hotel Die Post offers well-kept, contemporary guestrooms for overnight stays – an ideal base for exploring t

This legendary fine dining establishment is run by exemplary husband-and-wife team Magdalena and Clemens Rambichler. The chef's set menu meets the highest standards, course by course, starting with the first amuse-bouche. The Breton lobster is served in perfectly cooked bite-sized pieces with celery, green apple and a rich, delicately foamed sauce, and is given striking Asian accents by lemongrass, ginger, grilled lime and shellfish oil. Only the very finest ingredients are used, and in notably generous measure. Each dish remains memorable for its poised elegance, intricate depth and clarity o

The mismatched antique tables and chairs, the pretty decoration and the almost familial atmosphere lend this place a charming feel. The Swabian-style sour kidneys with sautéed potatoes have been on the menu here forever – a classic with its own loyal following. In addition, the menu includes contemporary dishes such as braised Ellscheid lemon chicken with Mediterranean vegetables. Most of the meat used by Florian Kucher and his team to create their seasonal regional fare comes from the Eifel area. Be sure to peruse the wine list – wine is a passion of senior chef Martin Kucher and he will be h

Right next to the Obertor (the historical city gate), Torschänke is a really inviting restaurant. The atmosphere inside is cosy and pleasingly down to earth, and outside there is a lovely, leafy terrace. Dishes with French and Mediterranean influences are prepared using top-notch fresh produce and served by a friendly, attentive and proficient front-of-house team.
