A century-old building on the eastern side of the Vistula River is home to this contemporary yet intimate restaurant. Chef Witek Iwański offers a choice of two tasting menus, both of which demonstrate his respect for high-quality ingredients as well as his impressive technical skills – and he often delivers the dishes personally to your table. After the delicate, colourful snacks that signal the start of dinner, you can expect expertly rendered dishes like Skrei cod with radish, a luxurious seafood cocktail, and a modern reworking of ‘surf & turf’ that uses ribeye and crayfish. Enter this inviting neighbourhood spot and you’ll soon see the walls filled with natural and low-intervention wines – which are a perfect fit for the relaxed, on-trend vibe and cosy surroundings. Settle in at your table amidst the exposed brickwork and ask the charming team for recommendations on which wines to try, then accompany them with the brilliantly priced cooking. Both the light Neapolitan-style pizzas and the seasonal small plates provide bags of flavour in every mouthful. Bring your friends, order lots and have a simply wonderful time.

The Koneser Grill's location is one of its many appealing qualities, set inside the Centrum Praskie Koneser, an old vodka distillery that has been transformed into a mini walled village where apartments, shops, art venues and a museum now sit beside one another. The restaurant comes from the same owners as Butchery & Wine, and its grill-centric menu offers a range of steaks aged in-house served with textbook sauces, but everything on the list – from the salad to the ikejime fish – is equally enjoyable. Sharing provides the best value experience and the chefs aim to use every part of the ingred

Fruit, vegetables, grains and pulses all get their moment in the spotlight at this fully vegan restaurant with stripped-back, bistro-like interiors and an open kitchen. The menu is ideal for sharing, offering original, delicately flavoured and well-balanced dishes such as fried polenta with agave and chilli syrup. Make sure you save room for the ‘sfinci’ doughnuts and homemade jam. Attentive and efficient service keeps things running smoothly.

Fun, colourful and with an infectiously positive vibe, it’s easy to see why this wine bar and bistro is so popular – and booking is essential if you want to sample the kitchen’s soul-warming comfort food. The likes of pan-fried zander with beurre blanc and trout roe are a prime example of everything this place is about: big portions of unpretentious, flavour-driven cooking. The intriguing, on-trend wine list includes organic, biodynamic and orange options available by the glass.

An engaging husband-and-wife team bring their natural charm to this intimate Japanese restaurant that relocated from Wrocław towards the end of 2022. The L-shaped counter seats just eight guests, who are encouraged to interact as the omakase menu unfolds. Largely imported produce is utilised in familiar dishes such as tuna temaki, chawanmushi and an array of nigiri. Japanese whiskies and a choice of sakes complete the memorable experience.

Located just minutes from The Royal Castle in Warsaw, this cosy restaurant has a real neighbourhood feel. The menu changes monthly, with each version focusing on cooking inspired by one of Poland's 16 regions. The chefs take traditional recipes and modernise them using contemporary techniques and sometimes a creative edge. Service comes from a wonderfully enthusiastic team who show considerable pride in their work. The great wine recommendations favour biodynamic choices from smaller producers.

A little slice of Georgia has landed in the centre of Warsaw, thanks to this quirky and loveable restaurant. Georgia-born chef-owner Davit Turkestanishvili is a larger-than-life character who runs the place with great enthusiasm. His dishes draw on Georgian staples like khachapuri and khinkali, packing bags of flavour into each bite. The many rugs decorating the room are for sale, and some of the wines come from the team’s own vineyard in Georgia.
