This elegant restaurant done out all in white and with a beautiful high groin-vaulted ceiling is truly chic – you would never guess this space was once the château's stables. In the open kitchen, Jan Knedla and his team prepare a set menu comprising six, eight or 10 courses. Inspired by the chef's childhood, the dishes lean towards regional ingredients and are presented in a modern and creative style. Seats at the Chef's Table promise interesting glimpses of the action. Service is friendly and professional; the chefs mostly serve the dishes themselves and explain the idea behind them. They off

It's no wonder this delightful restaurant in the city centre is a favorite among locals. The vibe is rustic and vibrant, the staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive, and the food is top-notch. Using select ingredients, the kitchen team delivers a contemporary take on Czech cuisine that is down-to-earth and packed with flavour. Signature items such as charred cabbage and short ribs are not to be missed. There is also a solid wine selection. In summer, the lovely covered terrace out front beckons.

With its chic design, clean lines, light wood and palette of natural hues, this restaurant is blessed with good looks. If you are lucky, you will be seated at a table with a front-row view of the chefs preparing the dishes in the open kitchen. The modern cuisine has international and Czech influences. Attentive and cordial service. Hotel U Kapličky located in the same building has attractive guestrooms for an overnight stay.

This restaurant stands on the premises of the Pilsner Urquell brewery. Diners are seated in a lofty vaulted cellar featuring a modern-meets-rustic decor and a striking service station in the middle of the space. Modern Czech cuisine and traditional hearty beer-hall dishes are all meticulously prepared and packed with flavour. The chefs put a premium on regional ingredients sourced from local suppliers. Of course, a good beer goes well with it. Tip: For special occasions, you can book the ‘Schalender’ in the brewery's lager cellars. Also interesting: brewery museum and shop.

Sůl a Řepa

Once you have located the slightly hidden entrance, you find yourself in a world of fermentation, pickling and preserving – countless jars of various vegetables, mushrooms and the like are everywhere you look. The restaurant is pleasingly pared back, and some tables afford an interesting view over the pass into the kitchen. They source all ingredients from the region and, wherever possible, process these themselves. You can clearly see their sustainability concept in action here. The menu is seasonal, and the friendly waitstaff are happy to advise you as you choose.
