Rote Wand Chef's Table
Modern Cuisine, Creative · ★★ Michelin
€€€€
In the exclusive Rote Wand Gourmet Hotel – formerly a modest inn in Zug's old schoolhouse – guests are treated to a very special culinary experience. After an aperitif and a selection of appetisers in the little parlour downstairs, you proceed upstairs to a chic dining area in which warm wood meets sleek design; there you take a seat on one of the comfortable bar chairs arranged around a horseshoe counter. A special atmosphere reigns here, and this is due in no small part to the well-coordinated, charming and laid-back service team. Julian Stieger, who comes from Upper Austria, brings his high

Tanja and Tobias Schöpf's establishment is pleasingly informal. She provides cordial and proficient service in the inviting wood-panelled dining space, occasionally taking a seat alongside diners at their table. Her husband, meanwhile, prepares five flavoursome dishes using regional ingredients, for you to select à la carte or as a set menu. Tantalising examples include Riebelmais (dry-milled corn), onion, Vorarlberg mountain cheese, or chicken leg, Savoy cabbage, leek, parsley root. He likes to keep things natural and seasonal – he goes hunting and forages for mushrooms, buds and herbs. The w

This building's traditional shingle façade demonstrates its affinity with the region, as does its smart interior drawing on modern straight lines and natural materials such as wood and stone. Markus Grittle conjures up cuisine that also takes its cue from the region. In the evening, the interesting set menu is formed of three to five courses (dishes include THE ELEGANT FISH – sturgeon, carrot, purslane); at lunchtime, a three-course version is served. Slightly more traditional fare is available à la carte. The terrace affords a view of the ski slopes. Overnight accommodation is to be had at th

This charming restaurant in the Rote Wand Gourmet Hotel serves traditional Austrian cuisine at its best, whether it's a perfectly souffléd Wiener schnitzel, delicious Buttermilchschmarrn (shredded, fluffy buttermilk pancake) or fabulous fondues! Diners can also look forward to cordial service and an extensive and well-curated selection of wines. At lunchtime, dishes are served à la carte, including fondue chinoise (Swiss-style hot pot) and cheese fondue. In the evening, culinary tradition is presented in appealing set menus. Fusion, Asian Influences
€€€€
This chic restaurant is very much at home in Lech. Behind the large glass-paned façade a tastefully designed space with a modern feel awaits. The open kitchen certainly plays its part – you can watch the chefs from almost anywhere. The cuisine is a fusion of Asian and European – a style to which they have been committed for years. The wine list absolutely deserves a mention, being one of the finest in the country – the Champagne and Burgundy selection leaves nothing to be desired. The bar area is also inviting – ideal for an aperitif or a nightcap.
