The location on the outskirts of the city in the Hajszan Neumann estate, which is operated by winemaker Fritz Wieninger, is something special in itself. Here, a wonderful brick vaulted ceiling and stylish interior design make for a distinctive look. The cuisine of Juan Amador more than lives up to the setting – he uses the finest ingredients to devise a modern and sophisticated set menu comprising dishes that are finely balanced and consistently harmonious. Take, for example, the wonderfully firm red mullet fillet, cooked to a perfect translucent finish, topped with well-seasoned anchovies and

A true institution on Vienna's fine-dining scene. Expect the unexpected: Markus Mraz and his son Lukas's menu is based on a surprise concept – only the ingredients are revealed in advance. The experience unfolds over 13 small, distinctive courses, far removed from the mainstream and typically centred on a single star ingredient, which forms the basis of the menu. A memorable example is the "kimchi börek", in which aromatic sika venison meets vibrant, tangy kimchi, elevated by fine shavings of Périgord truffle. The setting is chic, modern and relaxed. There are plenty of good reasons to dine here. The location right by the Danube means wonderful views, and the kitchen turns out flavoursome, seasonally driven Austrian dishes ranging from classics such as creamy veal goulash with Butternockerl butter dumplings to Radlberg char fillet with truffle sauce and beef fillet tips in a creamy Cognac-peppercorn sauce. The well-curated and reasonably priced wine list emphasises Austrian labels. Service is friendly and professional. The inviting interior is matched in summer by two lovely terraces, one shaded by chestnut trees. Don't miss the opportunit

This family-run restaurant in Vienna's beautiful 19th district has its fair share of regulars who come for its range of classic, flavoursome Austrian specialities. The menu features familiar favourites such as Wiener schnitzel, seasonal dishes with game, but also seafood – the lobster soup is a highlight. The attentive waitstaff and cultivated atmosphere add to the appeal of this place. In summer, be sure to nab a table on the lovely garden terrace.

Well worth a trip to the outskirts of the city. The inn formerly run by famous Viennese chef Heinz Herkner has been given a successful makeover that combines modernity and tradition – this applies to the warm and charming setting as well as the food. The menu features Austrian and classic French dishes peppered with modern touches, as well as offal. On Sundays, the roast pork is a treat. There is a lovely terrace spanning two floors to enjoy in summer.

Following on from Konstantin Filippou and O boufés, chef Konstantin Filippou has established another culinary hotspot in Vienna – this time in the city's 19th district. In a high-ceilinged space with a snazzy open kitchen, diners sit together at a large communal table in the thick of the action. At lunchtime (Mon-Fri), there is a short menu, also available to pick up and take away; in the evening a wonderful à la carte selection awaits you. First-class ingredients go into creating modern Greek fare, in a nod to the chef's roots. The congenial, charming service includes helpful wine recommendat

Since the beginning of 2024, Sandra Apflauer and Marcus Doller have operated their restaurant as a hub for foodies, wine lovers and art enthusiasts, pulling out all the stops for their guests. The cuisine is modern and seasonally inspired; the menu features dishes such as salmon trout from Oberwasser fish farm, white wine, kohlrabi, hazelnut and suave chilli, or crispy straw-fed pork roast with beer jus, bacon and cabbage salad, and bread dumpling. Main courses can be ordered as Tapas Schmankerl (small tasting servings) or in standard portions. In addition to the à la carte selection, there is
