La Balette

Laurent Lemal unveils the full gamut of his talents in this idyllic spot overlooking the harbour and Collioure, right by the water. His distinctive cuisine focused on local ingredients exalts the plentiful fare of Catalonia. The "signature 2025" dish features red onions from Toulouges, skilfully prepared as a mousse, ice cream and confit. The chef has a fondness for finely crafted surf and turf combinations, such as Mediterranean scorpion fish accompanied by "plural" courgettes with basil and a courgette flower with a brandade farce. Pastry chef Julie (Laurent Lemal's wife) whips up delicate d

Le 5ème Péché

Modern Cuisine

This small restaurant in Collioure's old town is run by a chef from Tokyo, who is passionate about French food and wine. Here, Japan meets Catalonia in fusion cuisine that stars ultra-fresh fish. A prime example is the rockfish soup with coconut milk, braised ox cheek with banyuls and prawns. Remember to book well in advance.

Mamma - Les Roches Brunes

Mediterranean Cuisine, Modern Cuisine

€€€

Clinging to a rocky outcrop, Les Roches Brunes is a feast for the eye: the hotel overlooks the sea and offers a breathtaking view of the Château royal de Collioure opposite. In the bohemian-chic restaurant, the gourmet score celebrates local produce. You will taste creative, hearty Catalan recipes with a weakness for seafood: Palamos prawns, mushrooms and a coffee emulsion; arroz seco, baby squid and blue crab stock; fillet of dentex cooked on a plancha served with a seafood suquet (sort of Catalan fish stew).

Les Jardins du Cèdre

Modern Cuisine

€€€

The food shows off the undeniable richness of the Catalan terroir, and varies freely with the passing seasons, so it is impossible to tire of it! As for the setting, it is an invitation to daydream. The picture window gives onto the fine terrace and, beyond, the port and the sea. Le Cèdre has it all.

Les Clos de Paulilles

Regional Cuisine

€€€

Set between vineyards and the sea, just a few minutes from the beach, the location is idyllic. Maison Cazes – a major wine producer in the region – acquired the 90ha estate and runs this restaurant that promises to treat your taste buds. Only local produce is used in bringing the regional recipes to life: capon with green crab bisque and squid ink tagliatelle. A superb terrace overlooking the vineyards... and a friendly tapas bar!

This place is an open secret among food lovers – and with good reason! Chef Thibaut Lesage and Stéphanie, his pastry chef wife, sign a hunger-satiating modern repertory that stars first-class Catalan produce. Select choice of local and natural wines. Bookings are essential. Before you leave, head upstairs and take a peek at the art gallery.

Le Relais de la Massane

Regional Cuisine

€€

This restaurant welcomes us on the outskirts of Argelès-sur-Mer, by the small bridge spanning the coastal river La Massane. In this charming old building with exposed stone and brickwork modernised with a few contemporary touches, diners savour regional cuisine made with Mediterranean fish, locally caught anchovies, vegetables and sun-drenched citrus fruit. Examples include "traditional Catalan-style" anchovies, summer vegetables, grilled pepper sorbet; roasted monkfish tail, prawns and shellfish, lemon butter; grilled wild sea bass, asparagus and spring vegetables, hollandaise sauce.
