When Peter Hesseler started out here in 1997, he would never have dreamed that this place would one day make a name for itself as a MICHELIN-starred restaurant. Since 2017, Torben Schuster has been at the helm in the kitchen of this gorgeous estate on the prestigious golf course. His cooking is modern, bold and creative, but never loses sight of its classical foundations. A striking example of the balance of elegance and depth is the incredibly flavoursome dry-aged Barbarie duck, accompanied by yellow and red beetroot cooked in a salt crust and covered with radish jelly, with peanuts for crunc

The centuries-old castle with its extensive grounds is a magnificent property, boasting stylish rooms and salons displaying period details behind its massive old walls. This stately backdrop makes for a fabulous setting in which to relish classic cuisine either à la carte or in the form of a three- to six-course set menu. Caviar or oysters are popular appetisers, followed by tempting dishes such as "smoked eel, eel glaze, beetroot, potato, radish" or "lobster tail, mandarin, kumquat, walnut, gin gel, bergamot beurre blanc". Friendly and attentive service. Tip: There is an interesting set menu

The bistro at the exclusive Gut Lärchenhof golf club on the outskirts of Cologne offers a somewhat simpler alternative to the eponymous fine dining restaurant, but you are just as assured of flavour and freshness – at both lunch and dinner. They serve dishes ranging from Currywurst to Königsberger Klopse (meatballs) and caviar. Needless to say, the terrace overlooking the green is delightful!

Located in a residential area, this restaurant is a firm favourite with fans of Japanese cuisine. In a pared-back Far Eastern-style setting, diners can look forward to a pleasantly lively atmosphere, as well as friendly and professional service with an authentic Japanese touch. It is clear that a well-coordinated team is at work here. Your options include gyoza, tempura, grilled and pan-fried dishes, udon, sushi and sashimi, plus a large omakase set menu. Wine, sake and Japanese whisky to go with it.

In the heart of the Ehrenfeld district, Hannes Radeck and Kevin Rademacker (formerly of Cologne's Ox & Klee) have struck out on their own. The ambitions of this chef-owner pair are evident in delicately composed, creative modern dishes, such as "Potato brioche, Comté, celery, grapes" or "Bresse chicken, hazelnut, leek". As an alternative to the à la carte selection, there is a six-course surprise menu dubbed "Et kütt wie et kütt" ("It is what it is"), available in a meat/fish or vegetarian version. Seasonality and organic produce are central to the concept, with many fermented and pickled ingr
