Lasai

Modern Cuisine, Innovative · ★★ Michelin

Dining at this restaurant with just 10 seats is like attending a show, but with the best seats in the house! Although it starts out quietly, the kitchen comes to life as the chefs embark on the task in hand, with interesting interaction between chef Rafa Costa e Silva and his guests. The surprise tasting menu begins with a variety of appetisers in which vegetables take centre stage – displayed on a wooden tray illuminated by a spotlight on the counter – and served in different forms and textures. These are organically grown in line with the seasons and are mainly sourced from the chef’s garden

One of those restaurants that every food-lover should get to know! The rapport formed between chef Felipe Bronze and sommelier Cecilia Aldaz works wonderfully well as can be witnessed in every single detail. In this charming and elegant restaurant one block from Leblon beach, the cuisine is a fusion of Brazilian roots and cutting-edge technique. This is reflected in the Afetividade and Criatividade menus (with two and four main courses, respectively) which pay homage to the different regions of Brazil. At the counter in front of the kitchen, with seats for just four guests, you can appreciate

Mee

Asian Influences · ★ Michelin

$$$$

If you’re looking for an Asian dining experience close to Copacabana beach, make sure you book a table at Mee, an excellent option within the walls of the “Copa” (Copacabana Palace hotel). In this elegant restaurant where modernity and exoticism combine together harmoniously, the focus is on pan-Asian fusion cuisine that takes the tastebuds on a gastronomic journey to discover the flavours of Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Japan, Singapore etc. Chef Alberto Morisawa was born in São Paulo but his family origins are in Madara Shima (Nagasaki, Japan), hence the dominant influence of Japanese cooki

Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin

Stepping through the gate of its discreet façade means leaving the bustle of everyday life behind and entering a space with a soaring ceiling height, where the past lives alongside the most modern vanguard. The main room carries a faintly industrial air, retaining its weathered red-brick walls, and is dominated by six large round tables and one special elongated table for five set before the open kitchen. The celebrated chef Alberto Landgraf is defined by simplicity and naturalness—hallmarks visible in his efforts to champion Brazilian roots and the transparency of flavours. His proposition ce

Oseille

Modern Cuisine, Creative · ★ Michelin

$$$$

Fortunately, there are still restaurants that exist with a strong family lineage – and Oseille is a perfect example. Run by chef Thomas Troisgros (son of Claude Troisgros, grandson of Pierre Troisgros and nephew of Michel Troisgros), it is located in the heart of Ipanema, right above the Toto restaurant (also part of his stable). Here, in a minimalist space that stands out for its profusion of wood and the prominence of a 16-seat “U”-shaped counter with a kitchen in the middle, guests can enjoy a heightened fine-dining experience through a unique, and modern-inspired tasting menu divided into

Casa 201

French · ★ Michelin

$$$$

This dining venue near the city’s botanical garden was initially designed to house an art gallery, and is now home to a restaurant that makes every guest feel truly at home (hence its name). After working in leading restaurants around Europe, Rio-born chef João Paulo Frankenfeld brings to the table cuisine teeming with strong technique, logic and flavour, while at the same time always showcasing Brazilian ingredients alongside delicate French detail that sheds light on his career trajectory. Once you’ve rung the doorbell here, you walk onto a terrace and then into the dining room, where you ca

San Omakase

Japanese · ★ Michelin

$$$$

The specific feature of this small (just eight seats at the counter) but elegant restaurant on the first floor of a shopping centre in the heart of Leblon is its honest homage to Japanese cuisine, which goes beyond culinary concepts in order to teach us more about the country’s culture. Here, good hospitality is a key tenet, so you’ll be welcomed at the door with a glass of sake, while those with little experience of Japanese dining will be given explanations on the preparation process and the special characteristics of the Omakase menu. Chef André Nobuyuki Kawai, who spent several decades wor

Madame Olympe

Creative French · ★ Michelin

Everything people are talking about is Madame Olympe, the restaurant located in the Terrasse Center shopping complex, in the elegant neighbourhood of Leblon. There, the duo of Claude Troisgros and Jéssica Trindade presents a fine-dining concept that celebrates French savoir-faire — most notably in the breads and their exquisitely delicate sauces — while championing Brazilian ingredients and weaving in subtle nods to the world of Japanese gastronomy. In this contemporary space, where original rice-paper lamps evoke floating clouds, everything revolves around an eight-course tasting menu or a sh
