Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin

Discover the true essence of Mendoza's gastronomy! Having gained experienced in numerous restaurants and wineries, chef Sebastián Weigandt has found a true state of contentment here. In his view, the secret to his cuisine lies in the quality of his ingredients – and in this respect Mendoza is a gastronomic paradise. Fully committed to the region, he works with local suppliers and is part of a historical project called DOP that studies foodstuffs that existed in the area’s early settlements. In his contemporary-style eatery, he offers three tasting menus that allow products from the vegetable w

Soberana
argentinian
$$$
Located just a couple of streets from Plaza Independencia in the centre of the city, this restaurant is striking for its level of comfort and the elegance of its contemporary and stylishly appointed dining space. Soberana boasts a pleasant terrace by the entrance, a cocktail bar and counter that has become one of the most dynamic areas of the restaurant where guests can also sit and eat, plus a glass-fronted wine cellar, including a private dining space next to it. Under the banner of “world cuisine”, the chefs serve up dishes that are based around Argentinian and local recipes but with nods t

Centauro

The core principle behind this impressive restaurant is a love for the region and its products. Occupying an attractively fronted old mansion that was once a small hotel, this converted property now features a cocktail bar, a wine cellar, and several contemporary-style dining rooms that were once the former guestrooms. he kitchen is in the hands of the very young and very talented Colombian chef Aris Pabón, who has created a contemporary tasting menu (4 or 8 courses) full of original ideas, technique and personality. Never afraid of a touch of humour, we loved the one called ‘Agh, here comes t

This centrally located restaurant draws attention to itself right from the outset thanks to the designer decor of large branches on the façade, a theme repeated on the ceilings of its meticulously appointed interior. At the helm in the kitchen you’ll find chef Evelin Vargas, who promises an experience that is 'wild and primitive' (as an example, guests are encouraged to eat a huge rib of beef with their fingers, hence the provision of gloves and a bib!). Although the majority of dishes here are cooked on the grill, you’ll still find plenty of creativity and technique, something that is especia

Anna Bistró
Traditional Cuisine
$$
Located close to Mendoza’s railway station in the centre of the city, this welcoming restaurant pleasantly surprised us thanks to its informal bistro-style ambience, its high levels of comfort, including open-brick walls, large industrial “atelier” picture windows and charming terraces, with an abundance of trees and other vegetation. The chef at the helm here, Alejandro Galliski, embodies his culinary philosophy through a clear premise, namely: “If we have to eat to live, let’s make food a pleasure”. To make this idea a reality, he offers guests varied traditional cuisine with strong roots in

If you rely on a restaurant’s list of awards when it comes to booking a table and if the delicious flavour of aged meats brings tears to your eyes, then the Abrasado restaurant (part of the Los Toneles winery not far from the centre of Mendoza - the recipient of various Best of Wine Tourism awards over the years) is the place for you! The dining room, located next to the spaces reserved for tastings and events, boasts a contemporary design and high ceilings, along with a maturing cabinet at the entrance and a bar to the rear with a resident bartender. Traditional Cuisine, Argentinian

The idea of creating a restaurant inside a wine cellar is not a new one, but there’s always a pioneering first in every destination. In this case, the honour goes to Francis Mallmann, an Argentinian chef who was keen to develop the concept after an eye-opening trip to the Napa Valley in California. This restaurant, located at the Escorihuela Gascón bodega in the department of Godoy Cruz, which was founded in 1884, hence the reference in its name, and features a contemporary dining room, a bar space and a pleasant terrace, where you’ll find the grill, the wood store and the roasting oven.
