Le Clos des Lodges

A young couple, who previously worked at Anne-Sophie Pic (most notably), have set up shop in the countryside, in this traditional half-timbered house with bags of character. They bring a breath of modernity to a menu based on ingredients from the Normandy terroir. The chef likes to punctuate his dishes with small, original touches that are pleasant surprises for the diner. A warm welcome and attentive service.

This bright modern bistro is the HQ of Frenchman Charles Thuillant and Korean Mi-Ra, a globetrotting couple who met in Ze Kitchen Gallery, a mecca of French-Asian cuisine. But it was ultimately in Deauville, where Charles spent his holidays as a child, that they opened their own restaurant. Together, they conjure up vibrant, lively dishes in which Normandy country produce is melded with perfectly judged Asian influences, for example marinated fish in a mango-passion fruit seasoning; wagyu beef, smoked jus, samsang; nodi marini pasta, oyster, wakame, crunchy veggies… Spot-on service and a moder

Located in the heart of the swanky seaside resort of Deauville, this restaurant with a sleek, modern frontage had the great idea of glazing part of the façade so passers-by can watch the chefs at work. Chef Maximin Hellio offers several tasting menus (that you can choose when you book on line), which pay tribute to Normandy’s produce, courtesy of spot-on, creative craftsmanship. Examples include his “Immersion in the Calvados region” or “Journey between the Auge pasturelands and the sea off the flowery coast”. Intriguing food and wine pairings.

This restaurant, which immediately draws the eye with its appealing half-timbered façade, is a tried-and-tested favourite with diners. Originally from Normandy, chef Xavier Buzieux has been turning out generous, accomplished home-style cooking for nearly 30 years, attentive to the seasons and local producers. Its success continues unabated, thanks in no small part to its droves of regulars and warm and friendly atmosphere.

Alexandre Bourdas has turned his SaQuaNa into a real social hub, open from morning to night, the idea being to make good food accessible to as many people as possible. The menu is varied, with influences from near and far (including a Japanese section), and, as ever, it boasts a number of must-tries, such as his monkfish in coconut broth and combawa oil, "our house bouillabaisse" or his emblematic pascade (oven-puffed pancake): a talented, confident and inspiring culinary showing featuring a wealth of dishes that are designed "for sharing". Depending on the time of day, SaQuaNa is also a patis

In Honfleur's historical quarter, Vincent Guyon is doing an admirable job. On the menu: sea bass marinated in citrus fruits, fresh mango, coriander and ginger; chocolate espuma, herb sorbet, cacao tuile and chocolate fleur de sel crunch… but the great classics of the house also feature: beef tartare with oysters, accompanied by mizuna, caviar vinaigrette and grilled rice. Inspired cuisine, perfectly executed.

Rediscover the green fields of Normandy, admire the horses at the neighbouring stud farm, dream of country living: this authentic half-timbered farmhouse is so pretty that it will make even the most die-hard city-dweller want to retire to the countryside. Calves, cows, pigs and traditional culinary treats await – truffle ravioli with a wild mushroom cream sauce; caramelised fruit tarte fine; not to mention the beef cooked over a wood fire. No sooner have you left than you're longing to return to these tempting rustic-style dishes.
