Offering a seamless dining experience as intriguing as its name, this comfortable haven blends together creativity, attention to detail, and charm. Chef Taylor Stark and his team stitch together an ambitious multicourse menu from culinary influences near and far. The meal starts with a trio of canapés utilizing product trim, making a clear statement about the kitchen’s sustainable gastronomy efforts. From there, meals may include a Berkshire pork dumpling with a turmeric and dill broth, inspired by the flavors of Chiang Mai, or velvety Colorado bison loin plated with apricot and grilled zucchi

Chef Johnny Curiel started off in his family’s restaurant in Guadalajara, and after years of high-end culinary experience, he revisits dishes and flavors from his upbringing with creativity and finely honed technique delivering results that are both satisfying and delicious. Resist the temptation to fixate on any one item, as the menu is littered with treasures. Think beautifully roasted scallops blessed with tomato butter and serrano ponzu or an agave-roasted sweet potato with nutty salsa matcha and luxuriously creamy whipped requesón. Vibrant seafood preparations like hamachi with roasted pi

Lightning strikes twice for dynamo Chef Johnny Curiel with this parallel concept cheek-by-jowl next to his celebrated flagship. As the name suggests, the small stylish space has a mezcal bar vibe—and a list of inventive, mouthwatering agave spirit-based cocktails to go with it—but it’s also a showcase for Chef Curiel’s culinary talents. Evoking the vibrant creativity of Mexico City’s restaurant scene, the succinct menu is sprinkled with international flavors, as in an herbaceous ceviche of kanpachi that incorporates dill and roasted garlic, or a subtly spiced aguachile of Santa Barbara uni and

This hip counter from the Id Est Hospitality Group is tucked away in the Dairy Block's Free Market. Chef Byron Gomez leads this team that takes a serious approach to locality and seasonality, including a dedicated fermentation program that highlights both grains and produce. The mastery of the hearth as the primary cooking implement infuses each of the tasting menu's courses with distinct notes. The menu, which incorporates Japanese and Nordic elements, is wholly original and offers a clear narrative embodied in dishes like sea urchin with butternut bisque and pickled squash or, perhaps, a war

The location in a run of the mill strip mall belies the cool interior at this spot named for Chef/owner Chris Teigland's mother. Inside, dark charcoal and dark wood are offset by pops of bright colors, while overhead, vibrant lanterns of different colors and sizes draw attention. The kitchen delivers serious flavor on their noodle/ramen-based menu. Kick off with a sweet and savory skewer of marinated tofu skewer served with a miso peach jam and an almond and sesame candy crumble. Ramen options run the gamut from miso bacon and brothless versions to the death wish designed for spice hounds who

The story here begins with Chef Natascha Hess's time as an exchange student in Beijing, where her host family taught her the fundamentals of Chinese home cooking, lessons that sparked a full-bore culinary passion. After several trips back to China, her travels broadened to include Shanghai, Singapore, Bangkok and more—a catalogue of flavors that she then translated into a hugely popular food truck, eventually becoming this lively, rustic brick-and-mortar location (though the truck can still be seen parked in front). It's clear that Chef Hess’s time abroad was well-spent: from hearty boiled por

At this brightly hospitable neighborhood charmer, find an exploration of contemporary cuisine that pulls in influences from the Mediterranean, North Africa and Middle East. The menu leads with mezze, featuring top-notch versions of familiar staples like hummus, babaganoush and falafel, paired with fluffy wood-fired whole-grain pita made from heritage wheat. Dinner offers more substantial fare, as in savory tagines with eggplant or chicken. The cooking is vegetable forward and accommodates dietary restrictions (there's even a gluten-free pita option). There are no gimmicks here, just thoughtful

Located in the beating heart of Union Station at the very edge of the train tracks, Tavernetta is a destination in its own right. Spacious, bright and run by a personable service team, the restaurant boasts a comfortable bar in the main dining as well as group-friendly seating further back by the open kitchen. An exercise in polish, class and restraint, the Italian menu is a proper deal at lunch, as classics like cacio e pepe or lamb ragu with rigatoni are prepared with obvious care. Close out with an affogato featuring honey gelato. As expected from the Frasca Hospitality Group, the wine list
