La Bandiera

Cuisine from Abruzzo, Contemporary · ★ Michelin

The journey to get there is long, no matter where you come from, but it's truly worth it! An entire family – second and third generation – walks side by side along the path set since 1977, devoting themselves with great passion to the art of gourmet hospitality. The cuisine, crafted and executed by father Marcello together with his son Mattia, is founded on a deep respect for the land and the seasonality of the ingredients. These principles often lead to self-production: products from their two gardens, one conventional and one synergistic, appear in almost every dish, as well as their EVO oil

Il Ritrovo d'Abruzzo

Country cooking, Modern Cuisine · Bib

Getting there may require some patience, but it's eased by the journey through one of the most enchanting parts of rural, hilly Abruzzo. This family-run restaurant, managed by the Di Tillio brothers (one in the dining room and the other in the kitchen, united by a passion for their work) offers a pleasant outdoor service in summer and takes guests on a journey through the region's culinary traditions. The dishes are often enhanced with produce from the family garden or fresh pasta made with their own wheat flour, with creative touches here and there.

Nole

Situated near the seafront in one of Pescara’s iconic streets, Nole offers guests two different dining options: the bar-bistro section serves excellent breakfasts, light lunches and snacks (closed in the evening), while the minimalist, contemporary-style dining room is home to the main restaurant. The two sections are separated by the open-view kitchen, where the chefs prepare classic, modern meat and fish dishes, with a focus on whatever ingredients are available in the market that day.

A lively bistro with a youthful feel, set in the heart of the town centre and featuring a pleasant outdoor terrace overlooking the square. In the kitchen, chef-owner Della Croce presents a menu that strikes a pleasing balance between meat and fish, always guided by careful respect for the seasons. Among the dishes most appreciated by the Inspector is the excellent octopus alla marinara: expertly cooked in two stages and full of flavour, it is served with cherry tomatoes, garlic, olives and capers, bringing out the character of the ingredient with both simplicity and skill.

Taverna 58

A good trattoria located in the historic neighborhood that gave birth to literary giants Ennio Flaiano and Gabriele D’Annunzio, two of the city’s most celebrated figures. Operating for over 40 years, it has “survived” both a move (originally at number 58) and a change in management (in 2020) without losing an ounce of its soul. The cuisine is rustic and unpretentious, flavorful, generous, and deeply rooted in Abruzzese tradition. Expect arrosticini (grilled meat skewers), the sublime frittatina del poeta-vate (a poet’s frittata enriched with vegetables and goat cheese), as well as a robust sel

Trita Pepe

Cuisine from Abruzzo

€

Situated on the road that passes through Manoppello Scalo, this restaurant with a car park right in front of the building boasts a spacious, simple dining room and is our recommended choice in the region for anyone keen to try typical Abruzzo cuisine. Meat takes pride of place among the main courses (with an exception for salted cod), while menu highlights include excellent fried gnocchi with local salumi and cheese.

€€

Situated in the heart of the historic centre overlooking the monumental Piazza San Giustino, this restaurant has a traditional feel in keeping with its location, enhanced by typical brick walls in dining rooms arranged on two floors. In contrast, the predominantly meat-based cuisine is contemporary in style, with some interesting technical and creative twists.

Bacucco d'Oro

Cuisine from Abruzzo, Traditional Cuisine

€

From the coast, you take a winding road uphill to this family-run trattoria which boasts sea views from its terrace. Apart from the salted cod, the menu only features meat dishes, with a focus on simple, traditional Abruzzo specialties. These include arrosticini (skewered grilled meat), fragrant mushrooms, barbecued meat and delicious “pizza dogge”, the latter a type of layered dessert with sponge cake, custard, confectioner’s cream and Alkermes liqueur. The concise wine list also focuses on the Abruzzo.
