Locanda Sant'Uffizio Enrico Bartolini

Piedmontese, Modern Cuisine · ★★ Michelin

€€€€

Nestled amid the picturesque hills of the Monferrato region, this restaurant overseen by multi-Michelin-starred Enrico Bartolini sees Gabriele Boffa at the helm in the kitchen, a chef who is young in years but already a real connoisseur of Piedmontese cuisine. With experience in some of the world’s best restaurants behind him, Boffa has accumulated expert knowledge and remarkable technical skills. His cuisine ranges from classic regional dishes interpreted in their purest form – such as his extraordinary agnolotti del plin – to more creative options, which demonstrate a connection with the reg

Cannavacciuolo Le Cattedrali Asti

Creative, Mediterranean Cuisine · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Situated in the hills outside Asti, this modern inn with guestrooms is nestled in around 18 hectares of woodland and meadows. The interior decor here is contemporary and minimalist, while the cuisine is overseen by the famous three-Michelin-star chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo, with resident chef Gianluca Renzi, who has already earned his spurs at other top-quality restaurants, at the helm in the kitchen. Originally from Rome (his focaccia is excellent!) and having trained professionally in various locations, Renzi creates cuisine that combines personal imaginative touches with regional influence

In the heart of a postcard-perfect village, the Musso family has welcomed guests for generations with the characteristic seriousness and professionalism of the Savoy tradition. Most importantly, they offer truly interesting cuisine. While grandmother Gemma and mother Sandra kept regional tradition at the heart of their dishes, today Massimiliano channels his passion for the Orient – where he has worked and loves to travel – into a modern, almost fusion approach. Expect amberjack, cleaned in Japanese style and grilled on a yakitori, served alongside a creative take on the family‑garden zucchini

Trattoria Losanna

Piedmontese, Regional Cuisine · Bib

€

This little bastion of traditional Monferrato cuisine is situated in a rustic building on the side of a road outside Masio. Most of the dishes here are local in flavour (as is the wine), including specialities such as Russian salad, veal tongue in green sauce, braised beef marinated in Barbera wine and semifreddo al torrone dessert. The classic, comfortable dining rooms have a welcoming feel.

Il Cavallo Scosso

Contemporary, Seafood

€€

A young and modern restaurant situated in a residential area about 2km from the centre, where owner-chef Enrico Pivieri offers a menu that is equally divided between traditional meat-based dishes from Piedmont (some, such as the plin pasta, are very traditional in style while others have a more reinterpreted feel) and more creative fish-based options. The chef gives full rein to his creativity in dishes such as the Mediterranean fish ceviche with avocado, passion fruit gel and sea-urchin mayonnaise.

La Braja

Piedmontese, Traditional Cuisine

€€€

A traditional Piedmontese restaurant, where owner Giuseppe Palermino welcomes guests to his elegant dining room with consummate style. Although the specialities here have a regional focus (such as the hand-made agnolotti pasta with three types of meat), fish and seafood also make an appearance, broadening the appeal of the menu. The cheese trolley is superb, while white truffles always take centre stage in season.

Le Due Lanterne

Piedmontese, Traditional Cuisine · Bib

A young, dynamic couple of professionals has revitalized this historic restaurant in the heart of town, facing the lively main square and beloved by neighborhood regulars. The menu celebrates Piedmontese tradition – think carne battuta, plin, braised Fassona beef, and bonet – elevated with the chef’s creative touches, such as onion stuffed with sausage and Castelmagno cream – a dish that alone is worth the visit! The hospitality is spontaneous and kind. Reservations? Highly recommended: the venue’s reputation is once again at its peak.

At this family restaurant, the daughter is now at the helm in the kitchen, having taken over from her grandmother a few years ago, while her parents oversee the dining room where the rather old-fashioned 1960s decor is brightened by their attentive service. The menu continues to focus on traditional Piedmontese dishes (especially from Monferrato) cooked in a simple, almost homely style, including specialities such as veal with a tuna sauce (usually known as vitello tonnato), agnolotti monferrini (a type of ravioli), tajarin with porcini mushrooms, finanziera stew, and torroncino parfait.
