Perched on top of one of the hills that act as a balcony above the canyons of the Sil River and surrounded by stunning vineyards (the latter, planted on steep terraces, are truly worthy of the term “heroic viticulture”), this restaurant (part of the Regina Viarum wine estate) is a superb dining option, providing the icing on the cake for any visit to the spectacular Ribeira Sacra area. The cuisine here, under the direction of award-winning chef Rafa Centeno (from the renowned Maruja Limón restaurant in Vigo) and coordinated on a day-to-day basis by Claudia Pinto, is presented on two contempora

In this centrally located restaurant, with a name that showcases its desire to create new and innovative experiences, the emphasis is on “deep-rooted cuisine” that showcases the origins of Galicia cooking and its terroir (artisanal Pan de Cea bread, Ceboleiro chorizo, the Mos breed of chicken etc) with the aim, first and foremost, of bringing what is local to a wider audience. In this impeccable, contemporary-minimalist setting with an open-view kitchen, chefs Julio Sotomayor and Daniel Guzmán (who as well as being business partners are also cousins!) remain faithful to their principles, creat

If you’re searching for a dining experience that encapsulates the essence of Galician cuisine, make sure you book a table at Ceibe, an adjective that describes someone “who is able to choose and manage the way they act and think”. The escabeches, pickles and marinades on offer here are the signature of this restaurant close to the cathedral in which the striking and traditional stone walls combine with a minimalist look and a kitchen that is very much part of the dining room. Here, Lydia del Olmo and Xosé Magalhaes are keen to ensure the flow of guests’ dining experience, as part of an interes

In the heart of the historic centre of Ourense, and a few steps from both the Praza de Abastos and the iconic As Burgas thermal spring, this restaurant gives new impetus to the culinary philosophy of chef Miguel González, which until now shone like a hidden gem on the outskirts of the city. In its elegant dining room, which has a partially exposed kitchen and is not without a certain historical air, combining high ceilings and marble floors with comfortable contemporary furniture, you can discover the cuisine of memory, sensations and improvisation that the chef has always associated with the

This classic family-run restaurant founded in 1975 by the grandparents of current owner Francisco Domínguez has moved with the times and now presents a much more appealing modern feel that showcases the evolution of this renowned eatery. The café-bar at the entrance leads to a bistro-style dining room with an open-view kitchen. Here, the focus is on a single, contemporary-style tasting menu that changes every two months approximately and is centred around seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. An added option here is the extensive brunch available at the weekend. One dish that we particular

Berso occupies a tastefully renovated house with a striking contemporary interior design, featuring walls embellished with colourful canvases and decorative details that relate to the town’s renowned music band. The chef at the helm, Martín Mantilla, has created an updated traditional menu that works with the seasons and ingredients that he sources locally. The pleasant patio-terrace is an added bonus.

(Temporarily closed due to relocation) This restaurant, located along the well-maintained banks of the Támega, the river that criss-crosses the town of Verín in the province of Ourense, is not be missed, as chef Begoña Vázquez focuses on traditional Galician cooking and the typical flavours and ingredients (organic veal and chestnuts in season) of the Monterrei area, which the chef combines with a more contemporary approach. The à la carte service is complemented by several set menus: Sinxelo (short, set lunch menu on weekdays), Raíces and Recordos.

A unique restaurant occupying the stone house that was once home to the century-old Casa Fandiño restaurant. Today, the name, which translates as the “murmur of the river” in Galician, pays a discreet tribute to the poem Dark Shadow by the renowned Galician poet Rosalía de Castro. The first thing that strikes you here is the meticulous, rustic-contemporary interior decor, which is almost an extension of the charm found in the streets of Allariz. Madrid-born chef Luis Moreno created this project in the town where he always spent his summers. Dining options are based around two tasting menus: one
