Modern Cuisine, Contemporary · ★ Michelin

Located on the edge of the historic centre, this restaurant boasts expansive picture windows that frame stunning views of the Sava River and the city’s contemporary skyline. Talented and passionate, youthful Marko Derić, back in Belgrade after honing his craft in several European restaurants, is now at the head of a creative, razor-sharp kitchen team. Marko’s culinary approach is rooted in Serbian traditions and produce, to which he gives a modern twist, drawing inspiration from French and Italian cuisines. Diners can choose between a range of menus: a five-course fish menu, a five-course meat

The restaurant has moved to Svetog Save 14.A welcoming bistro with an extensive menu revealing a lineup of patriotic recipes that have been subtly overhauled but not to the detriment of their intrinsic character or flavour, largely thanks to the use of local ingredients. We particularly recommend the oxtail with caramelised onions, house-made gnocchi with veal brain and a reduction of bones.

Located just a stone’s throw from the lively town centre, this elegant restaurant, whose interior features an upmarket South Asian slant, serves modern comfort food from Vietnam, Korea, and Thailand. The dishes are generously laden and some are available in half portions, allowing diners to sample a range of specialities. We particularly enjoyed the pho soup, one of the establishment’s signature dishes, that can be customised with different ingredients according to personal taste. Each course is flanked by colourful, flavoursome dips that make the experience even more appetising.

The youthful chef of this culinary and cultural landmark, popular with the locals and tourists alike, has been at the helm since 2019. Diners can choose to eat in a winter garden or in the dining room, often accompanied by live music during the colder months. The menu showcases a patriotic Serbian lineup, including the Krempita dessert that has been served here since the restaurant opened in 1946, and other Serbian specialties (there’s a 25-minute wait for the savoury Gibanica dish), with the occasional interesting, personalised touch and a focus on plating. Since it opened at the end of the S

Just behind the bustling Knez Mihaila shopping street, this restaurant takes its name from the Square Nine Hotel, one of the capital’s most exclusive addresses. The menu centers on internationally inspired dishes crafted to appeal to a varied and discerning clientele. Among the highlights, don’t miss the risotto with pine nuts and rosemary, finished with prawns, or the sea bass fillet served with butter-sautéed peas. Whether you choose the sleek, stylish dining room or the pleasant garden piazzetta, the atmosphere is always welcoming and contemporary. Another standout is the excellent wine sel

As soon as you exit the lift on the seventh floor of the Square Nine Hotel, you will find yourself in this swish, yet snug restaurant (named after the Japanese goddess of Fortune). You can choose between a bar stool, the sleek glazed interior or the rooftop terrace that commands jaw-dropping views of the historic city. The score is 100% Japanese, including sushi, sashimi, maki (the tuna maki with jalapeno pepper is particularly delicious), tempura (soft-shell crab served with wasabi mayonnaise and pickled ginger), teppanyaki, at least one ramen, and much more besides. Mediterranean Cuisine

The bright decor and colourful tableware of this restaurant reflect its happy-go-lucky, joyful Mediterranean spirit, as does the tempting culinary score, which includes chickpea fritters, tzatziki, different kinds of olives, typical ‘Dokos’ from Crete (imaginatively flavoured croutons), as well as chicken and pork gyros. A pleasant, informal setting in which to enjoy traditional Greek cuisine, flanked by an alfresco patio area in a refreshingly shady courtyard that further adds to its appeal and makes it very popular with locals.

On the eighth floor of the Hilton Hotel, the stylish dining room, enhanced by soft lighting and music, perfectly embodies the plush, international vibe one expects from such an establishment. The culinary score demonstrates a similar global leaning with Asian-inspired dishes such as Tom Yum soup, Gyoza dumplings, and a wide range of nigiri, sashimi and maki rolls. Simpler and occasionally Mediterranean recipes, both meat and fish, are presented tableside from a trolley, along with crab, lobster and a selection of fresh salads.
