Its owners describe La Martina as “a little gem”, an apt description given that this pretty restaurant occupies part of their own home! Situated in a residential district of chalets on the outskirts of Tarancón, this bright, charming restaurant is striking for its classic-contemporary decor which boasts numerous tasteful details and a predominantly white colour scheme. La Martina features an attractive dining room with a fireplace at one end, plus the Salón de Cristal, a pleasant glass-fronted porch. The cuisine has its roots in the region, reinterpreting the specialities of La Mancha through

The experience of eating in one of the city’s iconic “hanging houses” is one not to be missed and this is certainly the case in this restaurant next to the striking Museo de Arte Abstracto Español, where entry is controlled by a code that you are sent when making a booking. In its meticulous contemporary-style interior, which has nevertheless retained its delightfully attractive original wooden beams, guests can enjoy unique views of the Huécar river gorge while savouring the concise Volver or Cocinamos Cuenca tasting menus, the latter offerings courses such as trout, radish, sardines, cheese,

Honesty is raised to a new level here thanks to the open-view kitchen which is a clear demonstration that this restaurant has nothing to hide! Chef Eduardo Albiol creates cuisine that is both personal and different, adding a modern take to traditional recipes through the use of culinary touches and ingredients from other parts of the world, hence his dishes inspired by the Mediterranean, Asia and South America. His customers are his only benchmarks, so he is constantly attuned to their reaction with the hope that his cuisine will receive their full blessing! Excellent value for money!

A family restaurant run by siblings with over half a century of history behind it. One of the culinary jewels in the crown of La Mancha, Granero features a bar at the entrance, serving the set menu and a choice of “raciones”, plus a pleasant à la carte dining room and an attractive patio-terrace. Choose between the à la carte featuring traditional and fusion-inspired contemporary cuisine (the signature dish is roast suckling lamb shoulder) and a superb tasting menu with a wine-pairing option (you must request this when making your booking). Galician lobster awakening on the beaches of Goa, drunk crabs partying in Jerez, the Minutejo del Agus... The hedonistic cuisine of Dabiz Muñoz is fun and irreverent in many details, and breaks the barriers of the gastronomic avant-garde to enter a highly personal dreamlike plane, inviting the diner to live a roller coaster of emotions. In his striking establishment they serve a unique tasting menu, called ‘The Kitchen of the Flying Pigs’, which takes you on a spectacular journey through the different cuisines of the world, with special emphasis on Asian fusion but with the regular use of Spani

A restaurant with a good name in the local area, as the trade has been passed down from father to son for three generations. It boasts a good dining room, with fireplace, and a huge hall for events. Chef Javier Herráiz proposes an update to traditional Cuenca cuisine, always giving special prominence to stews and venison. On the à la carte you will find dishes such as a small glass of ajo arriero with apricot, cod with La Mancha ratatouille, or venison loin with pepper. Situated on the banks of the Júcar River, the setting is extremely attractive too, and they also manage four rural holiday ho

We’re not just paying lip service when we say that Chirón is one of the best places to eat on the outskirts of Madrid, just 25km from the Spanish capital. Here, chef Iván Muñoz, working alongside his sommelier brother Raúl, showcases the cooking of the Madrid region from a more modern and creative perspective, while at the same time paying homage to its traditional roots. Choose between highly enticing set menus with a touch of influence from La Mancha, which take us on a journey along the banks of the Tajo, Jarama and Tajuña rivers. Haute cuisine in an exclusive setting? Here you can savour the culinary creations of renowned chef Ramón Freixa, who describes himself as Catalan but with a strong Madrid influence! With this luxurious establishment in the heart of the Salamanca district, the chef has taken a step further by diversifying his offering with two concepts that seek to satisfy different audiences. Atelier, a kind of clandestine speakeasy within the larger Tradición, has guests sit at a single U-shaped table, allowing the chef to come and go from the open kitchen and interact constantly with the customers (only 10 d
