A true culinary beacon in the region, this 300-year-old half-timbered house looks wonderfully inviting from the outside. Chef-patron Christian Kuchler leaves us in no doubt that he is a master of classic cuisine, but he also incorporates carefully balanced creative touches and Asian influences. His perfectly cooked poularde de bresse, accompanied by Albufeira sauce with a delicate peppery note and buttery-creamy mashed potatoes à la Robuchon, is as impressive as his sashimi with wasabi marinade and soy sauce. Excellent ingredients are the common thread throughout the entire menu – used without

This restaurant is steeped in tradition, and much sought after for its excellent seasonal cuisine. The chef's expertise and his knack for preparing select ingredients with real flavour are evident in dishes such as spicy smoked trout tartare with dill mustard and marinated apple and beetroot salad, and braised veal cheek, Bramata polenta and green beans with dried bacon. At lunchtime, you can order à la carte or opt for one of four three-course set menus. In the evening, there is a tasting menu in addition to an à la carte selection. Attentive service comes courtesy of a friendly and well-orga

Run by the Frei family since 1982, this long-standing restaurant with its well-maintained shingle façade serves fresh, flavoursome seasonal fare rooted in classic cuisine and crafted from excellent ingredients. The set lunch is very popular. Tip: There is an especially fine selection of Swiss wines. Diners can choose between rustic cosiness and refined elegance in the various indoor spaces or head for the lovely tree-shaded terrace. Cosy guestrooms are available for overnight stays.

A really attractive restaurant: sleek, modern, spacious and – thanks to the large glass frontage – pleasingly bright, not to mention the view of the beautiful countryside. The leafy terrace with its shady chestnut tree is also very inviting. On the menu: flavourful cuisine prepared using excellent ingredients and drawing on Mediterranean and regional influences. Lunchtime options are more limited and more moderately priced.

Steeped in tradition, this restaurant in the Oberwinterthur district has received a modern makeover thanks to the couple at the helm: Markus Burkhard and Flavia Hiestand. In a pleasingly relaxed and informal atmosphere, diners are treated to attentive and friendly service and seasonal cuisine. The three- or four-course set menu crafted from select Swiss ingredients is composed according to your personal preferences – the leek stuffed with chicken, served with an excellent chicken broth, for example, is a real treat.
