Wirtshaus Krainer
Regional Cuisine, Seasonal Cuisine · Bib
€€
The Krainers offer a comprehensive experience with their family-run restaurant, café and hotel. In a bright and modern conservatory-like setting, Andreas Krainer serves up delicious Austrian dishes made with in-season local produce. Some highlights on the menu include the house goulash, Pöllau beef steaks and Mürztal fish hash, along with traditional Austrian desserts. In addition to the Wirtshaus offering, there is also a fine dining restaurant experience in the evening. And it is certainly worth calling by the cake buffet in the café. Hotel patrons can look forward to cosy accommodation, as

Gasthof Schäffer
Farm to table · Bib
€€
A restaurant where you feel right at home, thanks to the cosy atmosphere, cordial service, and the food that is straight-up delicious! This is traditional, home-style cuisine – think Austrian classics such as Wiener schnitzel, Backhendl (breaded fried chicken) and Tafelspitz (boiled beef), as well as venison Beuscherl (lights) and freshwater fish from the region. Those who prefer something a little more elevated can opt for a surprise menu (three to five courses) in the evening, subject to advance booking. They also have seven cosy guestrooms.

Gaumenkitzel
Modern Cuisine, Creative · ★ Michelin
€€€€
"Cook the Gart'l" – that is to say, the garden – is the name of the game here. The modern creative cuisine is the product of a philosophy of regionality and takes the form of the four- or six-course set menu interspersed with various amuse-bouches. Ingredients from the restaurant's own garden or the local area take pride of place, in dishes such as "pumpkin, sesame, winter tarragon" or "Neusiedlersee pike-perch, winter cabbage, mustard, salted lemon". Chef Peter Pichler took over the Pichler family business in 2015, after earning his stripes at top-flight establishments in Austria and abroad (

With Wirtshaus, Peter Pichler presents a sophisticated, traditional/regional alternative to Gaumenkitzel, the fine dining restaurant here at the Naturhotel Molzbachhof. Here, too, the focus is squarely on ingredients from the hotel's own garden and seasonal produce, as reflected in dishes such as goose liver pâté, plum chutney, brioche, candied nuts and fried trout, pumpkin vegetables, gnocchi, and local game. The excellent wine selection comprises around 200 items – exclusively Austrian wines from all regions. The owner, who heads up the team of friendly waitstaff, is happy to advise you – sh

Restaurant Krainer
Regional Cuisine, Classic Cuisine

The second restaurant of the hotel of the same name lies in the centre of the village and offers an altogether classic dining experience with its tastefully designed upscale interior and Andreas Krainer's cuisine. The chef's passion for reinvented classics is evident in dishes such as "Tschantschendorf pigeon from Gerhard Methlagl, kohlrabi from Vali, cherries from our garden, brioche dumplings". He prides himself on using regional produce, most of it sourced from the immediate vicinity. The set menu comprises four or six courses and is complemented by a selection of fine wines, as well as att
