Just outside Salzburg, Iris and Jürgen Vigné's establishment offers an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. In a lovely 17C parish house, dine in one of the charming, cosy rooms, outside on the attractive terrace or in a lounge. The cuisine is characterised by a bold and inventive spirit, infused with a personal touch that shines through in dishes like the foie gras terrine with cauliflower and passion fruit; a symphony of textures and flavours that showcases the chef's mastery of contrasting elements. When it comes to the quality of his ingredients, Jürgen Vigné sets great store by

Set in a phenomenal location, the renowned Rosewood Schloss Fuschl has many admirers, and not only among its hotel guests. With its exceptionally upscale and tastefully elegant interior, the restaurant strikes a perfect balance between grandeur and cosy comfort. The large windows offer a magnificent view of the lake. The set menu and à la carte dishes are prepared with select regional ingredients, including produce from the restaurant's own fish farm. The impressive wine list is extensive and includes some prestigious labels. In fine weather, you can also dine on the lakeside terrace one floor

This restaurant overlooking Salzburg boasts a wonderful location and stunning views. The atmosphere in the pretty wood-panelled dining area is cosy. The cuisine is rooted in the region but also draws on international influences, with a house speciality of Zitronen-Rahm-Herz vom Milchkalb (milk-fed calf's heart in a creamy lemon sauce) featured alongside dishes such as venison yellow curry served with spiced rice. There are set menus, one of which is vegetarian, an à la carte menu and an additional afternoon snack menu – there really is something for everyone. This lovely spot, which is also a

The history of this place dates all the way back to 1402! The kitchen team puts a modern spin on traditional Austrian cuisine, and diners can opt for a set menu or order dishes à la carte. Our tip: Try the boiled beef, which is prepared in a range of different ways. The charming interior is tastefully decorated and exudes an appealing family atmosphere. In summer, don't miss the gorgeous terrace laid out in the courtyard beneath the boughs of the chestnut trees.

"Traditional – innovative – down-to-earth – modern" is the motto of Margit and Michael Oberreiter. It is also an apt description of the modern-inspired Austrian and regional fare served here, which ranges from Backhendl (breaded fried chicken) with potato and cucumber salad and lingonberries to sheatfish fillet with lardo, chamomile butter broth, blini and wild broccoli. The four-course "Michaels Menü" comes highly recommended, but the extensive à la carte selection of traditional dishes and tavern classics is also tempting. And on Sundays and public holidays diners can tuck into Sunday roast

Their culinary approach is grounded in seasonality and local sourcing, with 25 regional producers supplying fresh top-notch ingredients. The dishes reflect Austrian tradition, elevated with imaginative twists and influences from around the globe. The menu is written up on a board, featuring options such as "Gazpacho andaluz, bell pepper, jalapeño, croutons", "Pickled trout, cucum

Having worked together at Hangar 7, Elisabeth (Lizzy) and Jakob Aigner have now opened their own place here, introducing a charming new concept to the area. While he presides front-of-house, providing friendly and attentive service and astute wine recommendations, she prepares Mediterranean fare in the kitchen. Made from the finest ingredients, her dishes are flavoursome and unfussy – the offerings are written up on a blackboard. The terrace is delightful in summer.

The atmosphere here is pleasantly down-to-earth, and the waitstaff laid-back and friendly. The cuisine is modern and seasonal. Along with à la carte options such as char ceviche or local ribeye steak, there is a set menu comprising four or six courses. Tip: Brunch is also served on Sat and Sun (10am-2pm). N.B. cash payments only. The restaurant also has an online shop selling home-made goods (sauces, pesto, jam etc), as well as beer and wine.
