Restaurant Marcon
Creative · ★★★ Michelin
€€€€
The Marcons are a family team: Régis Marcon senior, self-proclaimed Auvergnat-Italian, exceptional cook, entrepreneur and culinary authority, works with his sons, Jacques, who has confidently moved to the forefront, and Paul, Bocuse d’Or 2025. Here, one thing is clear: the market and the seasons dictate the menu. There is something for everyone: meat from the plateau, Le Puy green lentils, asparagus, broad beans, snails and, above all, mushrooms – the family speciality, which they pick in autumn. This is food with strong roots – whole roasted Vocance squab paired with stewed green peas and stu

La Bòria

The view over the valley and the surrounding Ardèche hillsides, a beautiful timber structure, chestnut wood tables, an indoor aromatic herb garden and the etymology of the name bòria ("small Cévennes farm" in Ardèche dialect) - the stage is set! Assisted by a high-flying team whose wholehearted commitment to the house ethos is beyond doubt, chef Florian Descours pays tribute to his rural roots with fresh, local produce: beef from Privas, pork from Beaulieu, snails from the Eyrieux valley and trout from Vercors). A treat from beginning to end, from the grilled baby gem lettuce and Villevocance

Pic
Creative · ★★★ Michelin

The first thing to mention about Maison Pic (in the Drôme département of southeast France) is its special atmosphere. An artfully lit room designed to cast light on the dishes, floral creations, a thick carpet that muffles the steps of a front-of-house team dressed in classic attire. Here, they serve food the old-fashioned way, on a porcelain plate under a cloche. The lofty culinary obsessions of a chef who has been dubbed "the tightrope walker of flavours" – adulation of Japan, original presentations – make themselves felt in the dishes. Anne-Sophie Pic now serves a single set menu with seven

Le Carré d'Alethius
Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin
€€€
Between the départements of Drôme and Ardèche, this restaurant named after Roman senator Alethius has a distinctly Provençal air about it. The villa is arranged around a square courtyard, a gorgeous verdant patio where you can dine in fine weather. After working for Jean-Michel Lorain at La Côte Saint-Jacques, Olivier Samin occupied the post of sous-chef for Anne-Sophie Pic for a long time. He delivers fresh cuisine that reflects the seasons and market availability (eg regional fruit and vegetables, escargots from Helix Eyrieux, local cheeses), and he also has a tremendous sense of balance: pr

La Cachette
Modern Cuisine, Creative · ★ Michelin

In the lower part of Valence, this hidden gem is the contemporary lair of Japanese chef Masashi Ijichi. He crafts a fine, delicate repertory, underscored by a succulent encounter between the Drôme region and inspired flashes of Asia. A few examples: pumpkin soup with sea urchin, avocado and prawn toast and an ethereal dessert of oranges, vanilla and walnuts. Outstanding wine list including a superb selection of northern Côtes du Rhône wines.

Épithèque
Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin
€€€
In the heart of historic Valence, Flaveurs has become Épithèque. In a colourful setting, depicted by a carpeted floor and chestnut wood tables, Baptiste Poinot aims to create closer ties with his diners and can often be found in the dining room. Influenced by his delicatessen grandfather, Poinot studied at Vienne Hospitality School, before learning the ropes with Michel Chabran, Anne-Sophie Pic and Joël Robuchon. This sensitive chef, who seeks above all to convey an emotion, crafts food that bears witness to the careful thought, excellent produce and consummate skill behind each dish.

Bistrot la Coulemelle
Traditional Cuisine · Bib
€€
This delightful bistro in the middle of the village is an outpost of Régis and Jacques Marcon's fine dining restaurant. Traditional pâté en croûte, updated with every season; roast chicken fillet, chicken leg rillettes with hazelnut and pumpkin; cheeses from the Ardèche and Auvergne: What more can we say? This hearty fare is fiendishly delicious. The open kitchens lend the place an inviting feel.

L'Acte 2

Before modernising these premises, Julie (restaurant floor and wine) and Lucas (kitchen) met at Régis and Jacques Marcon's restaurant, a benchmark if ever there was one. At L'Acte 2, they are now welcoming customers of their own into this small, contemporary dining space. Slow-cooked egg, cauliflower cream, grilled onion emulsion, baby spinach and peanuts; guinea fowl cooked two ways, pearl barley risotto, wilted carrot tops and mushrooms, jus corsé: he goes all out in his endeavours to create well-crafted dishes.
