Miramonti l'Altro

Italian Contemporary, French · ★ Michelin

€€€€

An Italian‑French couple runs this charming villa with a classic atmosphere on the outskirts of Brescia, with some tables set in bay windows overlooking the garden. Miramonti l’Altro has made history in Brescia and Lombardy dining by bringing together diverse gastronomic traditions: chef Philippe Léveillé’s French origins introduce some of the finest ingredients from across the Alps, combined with reinterpretations of classic Italian dishes, including Mediterranean favorites. Not to be missed is the glorious and essential cheese cart, extraordinarily well‑stocked.

Due Colombe

Country cooking, Creative · ★ Michelin

€€€

Le Due Colombe boasts a picturesque setting in a charming village in the heart of the Franciacorta region. The main dining room, housed in an old hay barn, boasts stone walls, a ceiling with wooden beams and a parquet floor, all of which add to the intimate and welcoming atmosphere. The fine cuisine celebrated here includes historic dishes that have become classic favourites and which can be chosen from the three tasting menus. A good example is the beef cooked with olive oil and served with polenta: “Nonna” Elvira made this dish in the post-war period and her grandson Stefano follows the same

This authentic rural trattoria overlooking the valley and Franciacorta specialises in regional produce and typical Italian cuisine. Each dish on the menu lists the origin of the ingredients used, plus the name and address of the producer. Specialities include tagliolini pasta sautéed in a walnut sauce with tuna. Top quality cuisine offering excellent value for money.

Il Colmetto

Grills, Modern Cuisine

€€

A true gourmet agriturismo, Il Colmetto changes its menu almost week by week in line with the changing seasons. Full of flavour, the ingredients here (many of which are produced on the property, while others are sourced locally) are cooked with precision, avoiding overly fussy and complicated techniques. Instead, the focus is on good, honest cuisine with its roots in peasant traditions, in which the aim is to create comforting dishes that will appeal to the palate. The barbecued specialities, such as the sweetbreads and the excellent Jerusalem artichokes, are particularly delicious, while the

A large wooden door dating from the late 19C leads into this restaurant, which makes a striking impression from the moment you step over the threshold. You come first of all into a dark-coloured reception area, which then leads into three dining rooms decorated with antique furniture, most of which dates from the 1950s. Two tasting menus are served here (one classic in style, the other more creative), showcasing chef Alberto Gipponi’s culinary skills to the full – one of the most interesting options is the guinea fowl with lemon and gentian, which has a perfect balance of softness and delicate

Radicì

Italian Contemporary, Regional Cuisine

The name of this restaurant alludes both to the chef’s origins in Isea (“radici” translates as “roots”) and his passion for vegetables, which make a strong appearance in his dishes. He offers three tasting menus, one dedicated to fish from the lake, a second which is more creative, and a third focusing on seasonal vegetables, with the option of choosing individual courses from each menu à la carte style. Whatever you choose, be prepared for complex, elaborate and surprising cuisine!

The decor at this restaurant features bottles of wine on the walls (there are around 700 labels on the wine list, with an unsurprising focus on sparkling wines from the local Franciacorta region), while the menu celebrates some of Italy’s best produce, as well as ingredients from further afield, with a focus on Mediterranean flavours. There’s also an excellent cheese selection which will delight cheese-lovers.
