“Cut and cook” is the meaning of the Japanese term that gives this place its name, and today it surprises as much with its contemporary elegance as with its intimate feel. Heading up the cuts is chef Tiago Penão, whose mastery in fusing the traditional with the modern shows in dishes that are flavourful, precise and beautifully thought through. In a space with an L-shaped counter for 12 diners, the chef and his dedicated team bring a single omakase menu to life. Here, the excellence of the produce stands out in a very special way: the nigiris are spectacular, celebrating the quality of local f

Fancy some Italian cuisine? Here, very close to the city’s main beaches, you can enjoy it with interesting Brazilian and Portuguese nuances, in the hands of chef Nelson Soares, who has replicated the culinary philosophy of his restaurant (also called Sult) in Rio de Janeiro. In this small, simple yet pleasant place, with a charming esplanada (terrace), the fresh pasta is truly excellent (such as Tortellini de espargos e mascarpone (asparagus and mascarpone tortellini) or Cappelletti de língua bovina (beef-tongue cappelletti)), deftly playing with heat and a few gentle sauces to surprise the pa

If you’re keen to enjoy the charms of a typical Japanese inn in the centre of Cascais, this young and informal space located close to its older sibling Kappo could be the place. At the bar counter, you can choose between the impressive Omakase menu or another created by the chef according to your appetite when you place your order. The dining space here is illuminated by neon lights and the walls are covered with photographs of its past customers.

Located in a residential district far from the usual foodie areas, this restaurant will definitely come as a pleasant surprise. This stems from the warm welcome on arrival and the special dedication and meticulous approach of chef Daniel Estriga, who has worked in a number of leading restaurants during his career. This is highlighted by his occasional participation in the dining room service, as well as the adding of finishing touches to some of his dishes at your table. Although the kitchen here is open-view and involves guests fully in the cooking process, it is his partner Vanessa (in charg
