Werneckhof Sigi Schelling
seasonal · ★ Michelin
€€€€
Since striking out on her own at the time-honoured Werneckhof near the English Garden, Sigi Schelling has remained true to her own culinary concept, building on classic foundations to deliver refreshingly light and accessible cuisine. Steering clear of gimmicks, she adopts a pared-down approach to create dishes such as "leek puree, nut butter, caviar" or "lukewarm char, fregola sarda, pea puree, smoked eel cream". The "Business Lunch" comprises three or four courses; in the evening a more sophisticated five-course set menu is served. The exceptionally pleasant atmosphere is thanks in no small

Tantris
international · ★ Michelin

Tantris boasts a unique look with its bold colour scheme evoking the "red of lobster and black of truffle"! A few modern touches, such as a distinctive walk-in glass wine cabinet, complement the restaurant's legendary style without compromising its iconic 1970s charm. The cuisine of Benjamin Chmura and his team strikes a masterful balance of textures and flavours, often incorporating playful bursts of acidity. This is beautifully illustrated, for instance, by the charcoal-grilled and delicately spiced melt-in-the-mouth pigeon breast, accompanied by a red berry sauce with beautiful depth and ma

Chef Lukas Adebahr and his team adhere to the farm-to-table principle in this period building, which boasts an idyllic location in Munich's Englischer Garten – be sure to factor in a stroll in the park before or after dinner. The seasonal regional cuisine is made using excellent ingredients sourced from local farmers or grown on site, featuring dishes such as rooster with green asparagus and morels. Bavarian influences are also integrated in imaginative ways. Tempting dessert options include baba with rhubarb and soured cream. Two set menus are available: "Vom Hof" and the vegetarian "Vom Gart

The "Brothers" in question are the Klaas twins, who have already made a name for themselves as maître d' and sommelier on the restaurant scene; the name also alludes to the brotherly spirit in the team, which includes head chef Daniel Bodamer. He draws on experience gained during stints at some top establishments to create modern dishes with classical foundations and international influences, using excellent produce in the process. A set menu is also drawn from the à la carte selection and the well-curated wine list will delight lovers of sparkling wines, Burgundy and German Riesling. High-qua

Sparkling Bistro

"Bistro" may not accurately capture the essence of this restaurant in the Schwabing neighbourhood, as the name dates back to an earlier era. Tucked away in Amalienpassage, the establishment exudes a pleasingly understated elegance, with Swiss stone pine from Austria contributing to the appealing atmosphere. The standard of the cuisine is every bit as impressive as the lovely, slick decor. The kitchen team headed up by owner Jürgen Wolfsgruber and Leander Bauer delivers two set menus: the five-course "Gustostückerl" in the evening and the four-course "Marktmenü" at lunchtime. Tohru in der Schreiberei

It is absolutely worth climbing the 23 steps of the beautiful steep wooden staircase that leads to this tasteful, upscale restaurant, which has been designed with an eye for detail. In this historic location (Munich's oldest town house, where the city's history started to be recorded in 1552), Tohru Nakamura – a Munich-born chef of German-Japanese descent – artfully bridges the gap between classic French and European cuisine and the culinary traditions of Japan. The combination of ingredients and flavours from both cultures makes for a unique twist, for example, in the perfectly cooked, delica

This restaurant has firmly established itself among the world's top-tier dining destinations. The ability of Jan Hartwig and his team to bridge the gap between French culinary artistry and German classics is impressive. Dishes such as meatloaf, egg with mustard sauce and Handkas mit Musik are transformed into something spectacular. Each creation dazzles – the quality of the ingredients is beyond question, and the craftsmanship is masterful. In the seven-course set menu, every detail is precisely executed and well thought out, with a clear sense of identity, featuring inventive and sometimes su

This remarkable restaurant in Hotel Bayerischer Hof is reminiscent of an artist's studio – chic grey dominates the colour scheme, and everything is tastefully done, down to the last detail. This understated luxury provides the backdrop, courtesy of Axel Vervoordt's interior design. Always on hand, the extremely personable and young yet experienced waitstaff pull out all the stops. There has been a change in kitchen leadership, with Kevin Romes (known from Skin's – the restaurant in Lenzburg) now at the helm.
