With dishes on the menu such as potato tortilla and Angus bresaola; gnocchi “a la sorrentina” with heritage tomato salsa, mozzarella and basil; and goat’s cheese capelletti with ricotta, saffron and lemon, this restaurant not far from the legendary Estadio Monumental, the home stadium of the Club Atlético River Plate football team, serves an array of globally inspired dishes. This world cuisine comes courtesy of owner-chef Máximo Togni, a successful entrepreneur who lived in the US for several years and who became the chef at the Argentinian embassy in Washington DC. Piedra Pasillo Al Fondo

This restaurant occupies a restored house in the Nuñez district of the city. Boasting tons of charm, it is one of those places with a character that comes as a pleasant surprise due to the charming team at the helm and its somewhat “broken” design, characterised by the kitchen visible through a large hole in the brickwork. It is run by its two owners (Lucas Canga and Tomás Couriel) who focus on modern, creative and complex cooking based around colourful dishes that aim to showcase seasonal ingredients and successful combinations of flavours. Standout dishes here include the venison tartare wit

Here, in the heart of the Belgrano district, everything revolves around a varied array of top-quality cuts of meat, traceability and the maturing process… which is hardly surprising given the restaurant’s location next door to its own butcher’s shop! The first thing you notice when you walk into the bright and open dining room are the flames and embers from the grill behind the counter. The “asado” croquettes are a good way to start proceedings, along with the Provoleta cheese, although you’ll need someone from your table to help share the huge portion. The sausages here, ranging from merguez

On the edge of the city’s Chinatown, one of the most popular tourist districts of Buenos Aires, chef Maximiliano Rossi invites guests on a gastronomic journey that follows a somewhat similar theme to his Picarón restaurant (in Chacarita), which is also recommended by the MICHELIN guide, although here the cuisine is based almost entirely around fish and seafood. Once through the large doorway, you’ll find a high-ceilinged, contemporary dining room. The restaurant's name, which translates as ‘overseas’, would give an indication of dishes and ingredients from around the world, whereas, in fact, t

This collaboration between Narda Lepes and Inés de los Santos, one of the standout new restaurants of 2023, has been a roaring success. This semicircular wood structure on the corner (hence its name) of Castañeda street is definitely striking and comes with enough discreet Japanese design features to make you feel as though you’re sitting in the Shibuya district of Tokyo. Make sure you start (or finish) with a drink at the bar upstairs, perhaps sipping an “Ash”, its own version of a martini. The open kitchen is fully respectful of the traditions and flavours of Japanese cuisine, so don’t expec
