Restaurant de l'Hôtel de Ville

French Contemporary, Seasonal Cuisine · ★ Michelin

In the centre of the village, near the bell tower, this quintessential rural establishment celebrates tradition quietly and simply. Beneath the vaulted ceiling of the dining room (refreshingly cool in summertime), you will taste a seasonal Gallic lineup with a choice of menus and courses. Grégory Halgand conjures up creative dishes such as asparagus, grapefruit and pistachio or Brittany lobster, red beetroot, blackberries and fish bisque. The desserts are the work of Audrey Feutren-Halgand, who also respects the seasons, with delicacies such as a medley of apricots (stewed, jellied and grilled

Le 1913

This elegant restaurant, complete with a terrace commanding a knockout panoramic view of the mountains and valley, is located in the recently refurbished Villars Palace. The ambitious, structured cuisine combines regional and Mediterranean dishes in four- or six-course set menus. The creativity of the "Gambero Rosso", for example, a carpaccio of red prawns contrasted with a perfectly presented dill sorbet, is a case in point. The open kitchen means you can see Christian Bertogna's team at work!

A cheerful buzzy vibe reigns in the new restaurant, decked in warm colours and natural materials, of Gilles Varone and his wife, Letizia. Following stints with Anton Mosimann, Gordon Ramsay and Claude Bosi in London, the chef, a local lad, conjures up unfussy dishes made with 100% Swiss produce. His score, as creative as it is spot on, is a consummate blend of delicacy and harmony as he expertly plays with textures. The culinary performance continues with a trolley of perfectly matured cheese… Take a seat near the huge picture windows, or at the counter for a close-up view of the work in the k

This former village café has morphed into a buzzy, friendly eatery decked in colourful cartoon murals. Youthful Marie Robert, assisted by an almost woman only team, wholeheartedly regales diners with creative, light-hearted dishes that are in tune with the seasons to be washed down with excellent local tipples. Robert has a flair for spontaneously showcasing seasonal ingredients. Examples include a mousseline of seabream enhanced by a whipped beurre blanc or an incredibly powerful and heady duo of blueberry and chocolate. Be bold and opt for her surprise menu – a hit with regulars, it is as pl

The standouts of this alpine chalet-inspired eatery are its warm, stylish atmosphere and its enthusiastic owner chef, who has been hard at work here since 2003. He invites you on a culinary journey, packed with surprises and strewn with forgotten heritage recipes, as he acquaints you with the region’s delicacies: lamb from Val Ferret, veal of the Herens breed, Valais black truffles… Alternatively, head to the small adjoining brasserie and sample its daily specials: poached sole roulade, home-made sauerkraut and champagne-laced beurre blanc… a real treat! Pleasant guestrooms for overnight stays

A stone’s throw from the centre, within the Crochetan theatre precinct, this elegant restaurant sports an airy interior, an open kitchen and a small conservatory. The Italian-born chef conjures up a creative, deftly crafted score that slaloms between regional classics and Mediterranean favourites, but always with seasonal produce. The crisp balanced dishes showcase the occasional inspired imaginative spin, like his wondrous “Risotto of red Sicilian shrimps with blueberry powder and celery”. The talented sommelier is a font of wine knowledge and the shaded terrace is bliss in fine weather.

Au Vieux Manoir

A truly magical location! Built in 1882 by renowned physician Dr Victor Guénebaud, the property combines heirloom features with an outstanding location and boasts what is probably one of the finest terraces in the Valais canton! The interior is the epitome of vintage charm from the lovely old parquet floor and beautifully sculpted coffered ceiling to the retro fabric wallpaper. What’s more, the chef-owner’s French-centric cuisine alone merits a visit: a set three- or five-course menu (depending on the time of day) that is savvily crafted with top-notch, super-fresh, seasonal ingredients.
