Gourmetrestaurant Dichter

Modern Cuisine, Creative French · ★★ Michelin

€€€€

You enter this fine dining restaurant either through the side entrance or via the lobby of the luxurious Parkhotel Egerner Höfe, just beyond the elegant bar and decorative glassed-in wine cabinets. The setting is upmarket, slick and modern, with three Japanese holly trees housed in eye-catching glass cubes. Floor-to-ceiling windows afford views onto the grounds and sculptures outside. Traditional French cuisine meets modern innovation in this kitchen, where dishes are expertly crafted with particular emphasis on regional produce. A good example of the harmonious combinations that showcase the

Restaurant Überfahrt

Classic Cuisine, Farm to table · ★ Michelin

Cornelia Fischer, who heads up the kitchen at the fine dining restaurant of the splendid Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt, is by no means a rookie when it comes to running a kitchen. Most recently head chef at Zur Schwane in Volkach, she is now showcasing her contemporary take on classic cuisine here at Überfahrt. Excellent ingredients go into the two four-course set menus, one of which is vegetarian. The fresh, tenderly cooked Breton langoustine with delicious braised fennel and a classic shellfish and orange sauce is one outstanding example. Additional dishes can be swapped in or out to tailor you

Haubentaucher

Farm to table, Creative · ★ Michelin

The fabulous lakeside location and wonderful terrace are certainly part of the appeal here, but this restaurant has plenty more to recommend it. Dedicated chef-patron Alois Neuschmid, who earned a MICHELIN star years ago at Lois, his previous restaurant here in the same town, cooks up a storm for his guests. At lunchtime, the menu features simpler daily specials, such as fried black pudding, pasta or Wiener schnitzel; in the evening, fine dining is the name of the game, with a four-course surprise menu. In the contemporary, seasonally inspired dishes, the main ingredient is often presented in

Freihaus Brenner

This lakeside inn overlooking Tegernsee is picture perfect; in summer, the terrace is nothing short of sensational! The interior is especially inviting, with cosy dining spaces done out in warm wood. The delicious food is inspired by the seasons and often showcases locally sourced ingredients. The menu features regional classics such as roast pork or duck as a speciality, alongside internationally influenced dishes. The charming front-of-house team work well together. This is also a wonderful venue for special occasions. Tip: For overnight stays, there is a gorgeous suite on the top floor.

Hirsch & Jägerstüberl - Ostiner Stub'n

Farm to table, Seasonal Cuisine · Bib

€€

This typical regional inn proposes two separate culinary concepts: The fine dining restaurant is open Fri to Sun evenings, and the more rustic Hirsch & Jägerstüberl is open Wed to Fri from 6pm and Sat to Sun 12-2.30pm and 6-9.30pm. The emphasis is on produce from the region, and the dishes take their cue from the changing seasons. The fine dining restaurant also serves set menus. Attentive service. In summer, tables on the lovely terrace overlooking the garden are much in demand.

Fährhütte 14

€€

This restaurant, an offshoot of Überfahrt, enjoys an idyllic lakeside location. The modern decor has a touch of rustic maritime flair while the service is friendly and accomplished. International and seasonal dishes. You will also have the opportunity to rent a deckchair on the beach! N.B. the restaurant is not accessible by car – getting there involves a 300m walk.

Alois-Anton Kaminrestaurant

Country cooking, Farm to table

€€€

A good alternative to the fine dining restaurant of the Park-Hotel Egerner Höfe. The choice is yours: dine in the cosy Bavarian-style dining rooms dubbed "Alois" and "Anton" or in the more upmarket Kaminrestaurant. Just as charming is the terrace, which is sheltered from the wind and has a view of the pastures and mountains. Either way, you can enjoy cordial service and regional and seasonal dishes in a pleasantly laid-back atmosphere.

EGERN 51

The location on the promenade is fabulous – in summer, tables on the terrace overlooking Egerner Bucht (Egern Bay) are in great demand! But you can also take in the vista from indoors – the window seats in this cosy modern restaurant are popular, too. The kitchen draws its inspiration from Euro-Asian cuisine. Featuring a diverse range of options, from classic favourites to Mediterranean and Asian-influenced dishes, the menu has something for everyone. Friendly and adept service.
