Housed in Weisser Bär Hotel & Wirtshaus, right on Marktplatz, this trendy yet cosy little establishment is run by an enthusiastic restaurateur duo. Sebastian Leutgeb is a young chef who masterfully blends Austrian and French influences in his creative cuisine. Your friendly hostess and sommelier Miriam Grädler provides impeccable service. A six- to eight-course set menu is served, with dishes along the lines of "char, young turnips, saffron" and "Miéral pigeon in two servings". The name of the restaurant is a tribute to the chef's grandmother, Paula. Tip: In the summer season, on Wednesdays an

It's a shame you can't enjoy Stefan Fischer's high-calibre cuisine all year round. The surprise menu consists of five to eight contemporary and innovative courses, with dishes such as smoked South Burgenland pigeon from southern Burgenland with umeboshi plum, spelt, consommé, shiitake mushroom, elderberry and rowanberry. Wine pairing recommendations come courtesy of the amiable and highly qualified sommelier. This tastefully designed restaurant occupies the first floor of a modern pavilion on the waterfront promenade – as one would expect, spots on the terrace are much in demand. The floor-to-

The spectacular lakeside location at Wolfgangsee is one of the main draws of this place. Combined with the stunning views of the lake and mountains, the classically elegant decor and live piano music in the background make for a truly romantic atmosphere. Incorporating local produce and drawing on classic and modern influences, the food is equally impressive. Diners have a choice of three set menus: "Poll's Menü", "Rössl Menü" and "Fondue Erlebnis" (must be pre-ordered). The outstanding wine list showcases Austrian labels. Friendly service. The "place to be" is a pretty apt way to describe this restaurant from which you can take in a wonderful view of the lake (Wolfgang See), Sankt Gilgen and the surrounding mountains. As you can imagine, the sophisticated terrace is coveted in summer… and then there is the good food added into the mix. Susanne and Lucas Bocsa have been putting their heart and soul into their role as hosts for many years and, over time, have established a chic restaurant where Lucas Bocsa cooks up flavoursome dishes, both classic and international. With the two set menus, "Luckys" and "Luckys All Around the World

This charming country inn is located by the picturesque Krotensee, a stone's throw from the historic Hüttenstein Castle. In its lovely, rustic dining spaces, delicious Alpine-Adriatic cuisine is served: fresh oysters, fish and seafood, game and braised meat, as well as various steaks; whole fish from the Mondsee are served based on the daily catch. Order à la carte or opt for a set menu. The well-curated wine list is international but highlights Austrian producers. They also have well-appointed guestrooms for overnight guests.
