Not centrally located, but still within walking distance (about 3 km), this modern restaurant has two settings: a minimalist veranda and an indoor dining room enhanced by decorative touches inspired by the Orient. The proposal is entirely dedicated to Japanese cuisine, revisited with some contemporary touches. The lengthy menu ranges from uramaki, nigiri, sashimi, hosomaki, tataki, dim sum, signature rolls, and more.To make it easier to choose, we recommend Sushi Sets, thematic assortments that allow you to sample different specialities. The tasting menu changes four times a year based on the seasons: in winter the undisputed protagonists are mushrooms and truffles together with winged game, while in springtime they are early vegetables. Dinner is a sensational journey among classic creations made with special care and other more modern creations with an original flavor, as well as several varieties of bread baked in an adjacent bakery. The wine list is outstanding: the different regions of Italy are well represented, without however neglecting Europe and America. Considering the great attention paid to tea (from Chine, Japan

Transferred to Ul. Huga Badalića 19. The proposal of young chef Marko Turković, originally from the picturesque island of Korčula, stands out for its originality and courage. We are located in the authentic and popular district of Trešnjevka, just as the restaurant itself is authentic and Spartan, deliberately informal, almost chaotic, animated by a "punk" energy that the owner wishes to share with his guests. The scene is all about the cuisine, which is serious business here: a single blind tasting menu (in five or six courses, depending on the time of year), focusing on Croatian ingredients

Not far from the city centre, this spacious restaurant extends through contemporary settings organised over several spaces. The gastronomic offerings are eclectic and of high quality: a brasserie where you can enjoy excellent meat from different parts of the world, with special attention to the matured meats, flanked by a fair selection of tacos. The atmosphere is more relaxed at lunchtime, while in the evening the venue comes alive by becoming a trendy hangout, with two evenings dedicated to live music and DJ sets on weekends.

This contemporary bistro, recently renovated but with over twenty years of history, is located on the outskirts of the capital in a green and peaceful area, offering a spacious outdoor area perfect for the warmer months. The cuisine highlights the local territory with classic recipes reinterpreted in a modern style, enriched by a Mediterranean touch, especially in the seafood offerings. The inspectors’ favorite dish: Shredded lamb, artichoke cream, cinnamon demi-glace, and baked radicchio.

Located in the city center, yet in a quiet spot within a courtyard, this elegant and welcoming family-run restaurant offers a seafood cuisine with Mediterranean flavors and a distinctly Italian touch. All the pasta is homemade, and the advice is to save some room for the delicious desserts. The wine list features numerous interesting labels from across Europe.

You ring the doorbell to gain access to this restaurant, where just five tables and an open-view kitchen create an intimate and welcoming ambience that deliberately gives the impression of dining in chef Tvrtko Šakota’s own home. The seasonal ingredients in the dishes here are sourced from the restaurant’s own farm, situated 40km from Zagreb. The chef chooses the dishes and Croatian wines served on his surprise tasting menu, where the focus is on small-scale producers who farm in accordance with traditional biodynamic methods. The cuisine takes guests on a creative and personalised journey thr

€€
Housed in one of the best hotels in the city, this elegant yet informal all-day bistro has become one of Zagreb’s most popular meeting places and is ideal for a simple snack and aperitif, as well as a full meal. The menu features meat, fish and plenty of vegetables, with a focus on local ingredients and the occasional French influence. Make sure you try the iconic Esplanade Štrukli, pasta filled with cheese and cooked au gratin, a house speciality since 1951. An excellent selection of wines by the glass completes the picture.
