A 17th-century farmstead run by the same family for four generations, initially as a produce farm (fruit and vegetables) before the younger generation expanded into dining in the early 2000s. The offering, based entirely on organic, sustainably sourced ingredients, is compelling, particularly delicious, and rooted in local traditions while casting a savvy, curious eye toward the present. Dishes are colorful and very generous; the all-female service team is warm and happy to explain the house philosophy. There’s also a shop where you can stock up on treats before you leave.

Situated in a beautiful panoramic location a few kilometres outside Bressanone, this restaurant combines regional traditions with a modern approach thanks to its classic techniques and the use of Mediterranean ingredients in some dishes. There are also elegant apartments available, plus a private wellness space, for anyone wishing to extend their stay.

Run by the capable Mayr family, this long-established restaurant has occupied a narrow alleyway in the centre of Bressanone (Brixen) since the late 19C. The dining rooms are decorated in historic style, plus there’s a charming terrace for alfresco dining in summer. Dishes are presented on different tasting menus with the option of choosing traditional or Mediterranean dishes à la carte style – we highly recommend the soup made with Sylvaner wine from the Isarco valley, as well as the Tirtl (fried pie) stuffed with ricotta, spinach and cinnamon. A modern wine bar in the centre of Bressanone (Brixen), situated in the same building as the delightful family restaurant, the Oste Scuro. Here, small armchairs, benches and stools are dotted among low square tables and higher tables, all surrounded by walls completely lined with wine bottles. The contemporary cuisine features tempting, generous dishes such as cod with cauliflower, cavolo nero and beurre blanc. Accommodation is available just two minutes’ away in the historic Adler Historic Guesthouse run by the same owners.
