Peter Fridén, of YOSO fame, has brought his "New Nordic Japanese Cuisine" to the 17C Alte Kanzlei, the interior of which has been tastefully designed by Axel Vervoordt. In a small side street adjacent to the boutique hotel PURS, this beautiful building houses a chic restaurant decorated in muted tones. In an invitingly lively and modern setting, diners sit at small wooden tables to savour fresh Italian dishes to an apt musical backdrop. The quality of the ingredients, the craftsmanship and flavours are all spot on – and the prices are fair, too. Serving up sushi and sashimi, as well as dishes such as shoyu ramen, bao chasu and chicken yakitori, he is dedicated to showcasing Far Eastern flavours. In the centre of the village, this half-timbered house dating from 1647 is a real gem. It is home to this restaurant run by Anita and Stefan Schleier with great dedication since 2001. The cosy atmosphere and traditional decor are as compelling as the ambitious Mediterranean cuisine based on carefully selected seasonal produce.
