Im Kittchen

Seasonal Cuisine, Farm to table · Bib

€€

This little restaurant is located in the middle of the old town, in a narrow side street near the Eiermarkt. The dining area has a rustic feel and tightly packed table, which contributes to the charming atmosphere, as does the cordial proprietress, who is in charge of the service. The delicious options are written on the blackboard and also come in smaller portions as a surprise menu. The impressive wine list features around 230 labels.

Im Gütchen

Mediterranean Cuisine, International

€€€

This elegant modern restaurant is accommodated in a charming Baroque mansion within the historical Schlosspark. In an airy, high-ceilinged space, diners are served classic cuisine with regional and Mediterranean sides, for you to pick à la carte or as a set menu. The proprietor himself runs the kitchen, using good-quality ingredients to cook up tasty dishes, while the lady of the house takes care of diners in a cordial manner. On hot summer days, make a beeline for the marvellous terrace.

Meisenheimer Hof

Farm to table, Modern French · ★ Michelin

€€€

In this pretty little restaurant you can savour the ambitious classic and regional cuisine rustled up by your dedicated host and head chef Markus Pape. The staff gladly recommend wines from the nearby Disibodenberg estate to pair with dishes such as "Soonwald venison served two ways – loin and leg, sea buckthorn, celeriac, root vegetables, radicchio, sauce grand veneur". The various buildings of the Meisenheimer Hof make for an attractive mix of the historical and modern – in the restaurant as well as in the hotel's themed guestrooms. In summer, the terrace between the buildings is delightful.

Der Kaiserhof

Seasonal Cuisine, Farm to table

€€€

Run by the same family for four generations, Kaiserhof has a surprisingly chic and fresh interior behind its deceptively traditional façade. The tastefully designed dining space is accessed via the open kitchen – diners can also watch the chefs at work. The concept here is a seasonally orientated "Culinary Journey" in six courses – for which you should allow plenty of time. Vegetarian dishes such as aubergine with pointed cabbage and Parmesan are just as enticing as the duck with Savoy cabbage and blackcurrant. Friendly and attentive front-of-house team. Hermannshöhle

Classic Cuisine, Country cooking

€€

Set in a former ferry house dating back to 1517, this establishment has been run by Wigbert Weck since 2007 and has a loyal following of regulars. The dishes created by the chef-patron are skillfully prepared from fresh ingredients with no unnecessary embellishments, and they are delicious! Tip: the surprise menu (only for the whole table). Complete with a glass-fronted wine refrigerator full of regional wines, the interior has the feel of a modern wine bar. Outside, the lovely terrace overlooks the Nahe River, which is just across the road. Two holiday flats can be booked for overnight stays.

Weedenhof

The restaurant is wonderfully cosy with its rustic exposed timber frame and dry-stone interior. Michael Knöll conjures up cuisine that combines Mediterranean and regional influences, making use of excellent produce to deliver flavoursome dishes. Choose between à la carte options and seasonal set menus, including a vegetarian version. They also have lovely and well-maintained guestrooms.

Das Bootshaus

Contemporary, Farm to table

€€

The restaurant at lifestyle hotel Papa Rhein sports a tasteful vintage maritime look and serves good food made with the freshest ingredients. Each evening, a new three-course set menu is presented, in a vegetarian or omnivore version – the latter with options. Lunch is à la carte. The front-of-house team pulls out all the stops but keeps things informal. There is a wonderful view of the Rhine and the surrounding vineyards – in summer, the delightful terrace beckons! In the bar, sand underfoot brings that beach feeling indoors.

This attractive restaurant serving appealing seasonal cuisine is housed in the premises of a former Asbach Uralt brandy distillery. Tables are set up to create a pleasant terrace in summer. Tip for motorists: there is also a public car park near the train station and the Rhine.
