Centrally located along a pedestrian street, this modern restaurant takes its name from an expression that the area’s older inhabitants once used to refer to those who were attracted to the more luxurious things in life and who wouldn’t eat just anything! Chef Cristóbal Castillo, who spent many years working alongside the award-winning Francis Paniego (El Portal de Echaurren, Ezcaray), has the firm intention of showcasing the products of the Rioja region from a more contemporary angle, with a strong focus on fresh ingredients straight from the market. Treintaitrés

Traditional Cuisine

€€

A leading name in plant-based cuisine in Spain! This famous restaurant, where we are told of a family tradition of hospitality that dates back to 1952, is presented with a refurbished interior in the main room (where there is even a small olive tree), two reserved areas on the upper floor and an attractive terrace. The à la carte, offering a good deal of variety, including traditional dishes, such as stewed snails, as well as a good selection of meat and fish, is supported by two set menus: Business and Degustación de Verduras.

Remigio

Regional Cuisine, Farm to table

€€

A renovated house with plenty of history that in the past has hosted guests such as the famous Spanish poet Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer. Here, the updated take on regional cuisine is showcased on an à la carte and several set menus, with a strong focus on vegetables and farm produce – for over 20 years the restaurant has sourced ingredients from the famous Mejana de Tudela area on the banks of the Ebro river. It also features a gastronomic dining space called Choko del Remigio, with a focus on local, seasonally inspired cuisine.

While this restaurant may seem simple, behind the stove is David Fernández, a chef who, after working in large restaurants, decided to return to his origins to forge his own identity. The small à la carte, organised as if it were different routes through the Cinco Villas region or Aragon itself, is complemented by a good daily menu (some dishes have a supplement) and a tasting menu. You can find interesting signature courses, as the chef has won several tapas competitions and even participated in Madrid Fusion!
