Björn Leist proposes a single-menu concept that expresses his affinity with his homeland of the Rhön Mountains. Using first-rate ingredients from the region, he concocts a creative set menu comprising eight courses. It is divided into four themed sections: "LeistStyle", "Homeland", "Rhön" and "Tradition". "Rhön", for example, features a deluxe version of the humble Thuringian dumpling, which is served with a sauce and elevated with the addition of truffle. Fans of high-quality meat will be pleased to know that the restaurant proudly serves meat from its own pasture-raised oxen. This is a dinin

Surrounded by glorious woodland and meadows, this magnificent estate traces its origins to a knight's manor, its 1901 castle completing a picture-perfect scene. At the helm in the kitchen is Alexander Mayer, who, along with his team, presents modern French cuisine incorporating regional produce and international accents. They serve a single set menu comprising four to six courses. One highlight comes right at the start, in the form of the amuse-bouche of exceptionally delicious calf's head accompanied by various quenelles, ranging from fresh and delicately tangy to salty, buttery and nutty. The only hint that you're dining in a former stable (l'étable in French) is in the name of this restaurant. This well-kept old building in the middle of the tranquil old town used to be a coaching post. Where the stables once stood, diners now settle in and enjoy friendly and attentive service in an ambience of understated elegance. Under the direction of head chef Constantin Kaiser, exceptional ingredients are thoughtfully combined and placed firmly in the spotlight. Both the expressive style and the craftsmanship are highly compelling. The set menu is available in three to six courses and in

First things first: be sure to make a reservation, because this place is in high demand! This isn't surprising given the fantastic eight-course set menu that the kitchen team around Christian Steska and Jansen Schouten proposes in this smart townhouse situated in the beautiful old town. For those who prefer a lighter option, an attractively priced four-course set menu is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The restaurant comprises both Christian & Friends and the adjoining wine bar Bordeaux & Friends with its distinctive wine rack – it has an excellent selection of wines with many top label

In addition to the frequently changing à la carte selection, there is the "Genießer-Menü", a set menu available in either a meat and fish or a vegetarian version, and the six- to eight-course "Gourmet-Menü", with optional wine pairing

This is the second restaurant of the idyllically situated Hohenhaus hotel, a magnificent property steeped in history. The interior has a classic, rustic decor and a warm atmosphere – plus a lovely 18C tiled stove. The seasonal cuisine is based on premium ingredients, sourced from the region for the most part. Delicious options include barbecued wild game sausage made with meat hunted on site and served with Hohenhaus potato mash, or braised local mutton. It is a treat to sit on the terrace and take in the surrounding countryside.
