Asador O'Pazo

Grills · ★ Michelin

€€€€

If you’re unfamiliar with O’Pazo, one of Galicia’s most renowned restaurants for grilled cuisine, you’re long overdue a visit to dine in this unique space created by the Vidal brothers (with Óscar in the kitchen and Manuel in the dining room), where everything revolves around the wood-fired grill. This charming property located next to the main road boasts an elegant interior design featuring an abundance of dark wood, providing the backdrop for traditionally based cuisine that is mainly served as part of the Rescaldo tasting menu. Despite the apparently simple grilled approach to cooking, the

For those keen to experience the flavours of the Atlantic to the full, it’s hard to find a better place than this. Here, chef Yayo Daporta describes his cuisine as “based on common sense and the best possible taste”. What is certain is that there’s much more than this to his cuisine, which reinterprets Galician cooking, bringing it up to date in a way that takes it to another level. The sea takes pride of place with mussels, cockles, barnacles, seaweed and simply cooked razor clams all featuring in this attractive restaurant occupying a stone building that was once a royal hospital dating back

Eirado

Contemporary · ★ Michelin

€€€

If you’re looking for a restaurant that exudes the true spirit of Pontevedra, then look no further, as Eirado occupies one of the most charming properties in the town’s old quarter. Its compact dining rooms are imbued with the warmth and beauty that come with the bare stone walls that typify the character of this particular restaurant. Chef Iñaki Bretal creates modern cooking with clearly evident Galician and maritime roots (he buys his fish and seafood daily from the auction in Ribeira), demonstrating high levels of technique and not being afraid to incorporate touches of fusion, taking flavo

Solla

Pepe Solla almost grew up in the kitchen and has hospitality coursing through his veins, hence the beginning of a life in which "he began to be part of the restaurant’s history and vice-versa”. The chef, whose love for cooking came from his father (who was awarded a Michelin star at Casa Solla in 1980), has brought the restaurant more up to date, running the family business to the highest standard while continuing to evolve, in particular thanks to his obsession with flavour, and a focus on creative cooking inspired by the culinary traditions of Galicia. On his maritime-inspired Trasmallo and

A Taberna do Trasno

Traditional Cuisine, Fusion · Bib

This centrally located restaurant with a modern interior is an unexpected surprise, bringing back to life a delightful stone house over two centuries old. The owner-chef offers guests a varied à la carte on which traditional recipes stand alongside more modern dishes with hints of fusion, a few seafood options, plus plenty of grilled specialities cooked over a wood fire. This is complemented by an 8-course tasting menu that needs to be ordered ahead of time. Our recommendations include grilled octopus with kimchi, parmentier and Ibarra chilli peppers, and the superb grilled sea bass, designed

Through the name of this restaurant, located along an attractive, narrow pedestrian street in the old quarter of town, the aim is to pay homage to a traditional form of fishing that, through the generations, has been fundamental to the livelihood of owner-chef Antonio Novas’ family. It boasts a bar at the entrance that is reminiscent of an old Galician tavern, a welcoming stone-walled dining room on the first floor, plus a private space for small events above it. Here, the cuisine is centred around top-quality ingredients and touches of contemporary and international influence, including daily

In a traditional fishing community such as this one, famous for the quality of its clams, the quality of ingredients always takes centre stage. This simple family-run restaurant, which has breathed new life into a former bar, is run by a couple – two chefs with a focus on contemporary, seasonal cooking inspired by the sea. This is showcased on a concise à la carte and a tasting menu option (“where the sea takes me”). We particularly enjoyed the black monkfish with a pepitoria sauce.

O Loxe Mareiro

Seafood, Regional Cuisine

Overlooking the Arousa estuary, and the curious sticks or poles that mark the cultivation parks where the famous Carril clams grow, O Loxe Mareiro has recovered an old traditional seafood restaurant. In this simple restaurant with a rustic-present-day atmosphere, which aside from the dining room has a charming terrace and a table in the kitchen, the proposal is totally focused on seafood products, always with a great deal of honesty and under the umbrella of both their small menu and a complete tasting menu (Arousa).
