ESS ATELIER STRAUSS

Classic Cuisine, Modern Cuisine · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Upscale furniture fashioned out of salvaged wood, comfortable designer chairs upholstered in lovely check fabrics, edelweiss-shaped lighting fixtures set into the ceiling, and pared-down, elegant tableware – this restaurant has a fresh and modern decor. But it isn't just the chic Alpine look that guests go in for. The cuisine conjured up by proprietor Peter A Strauss is equally inspiring. You will be treated to pleasingly stripped-down classic cuisine that takes inspiration in modern, creative trends. Dishes such as scallop with tomato, carrot, passion fruit and asparagus, or saddle of venison

Das Jagdhaus

Regional Cuisine, Traditional Cuisine · Bib

€€

Built in 1856, this charming timber house with three dining areas is a really pleasant alternative to the other restaurants run by the Bolkart-Fetz family in Oberstdorf. Only ingredients sourced from within Germany – and preferably from the region – go into the dishes on the traditional menu, including some excellent game options. As well as the three- or four-course "Prinzregentenmenü", there is a range of à la carte dishes to choose from. Very nice selection of wines. Head for the lovely beer garden shaded by chestnut trees.

Das Fetzwerk

International, Country cooking · Bib

€€

Das Fetzwerk feels modern and pleasingly uncomplicated – and that goes for both the trendy vibe and the food. Tasty, fresh dishes with a certain pizzazz feature on a menu of popular international dishes such as Thai curry soup, falafel, sashimi, poke bowls and seafood pasta. The service is friendly and attentive. When the weather is fine, the terrace is the place to be! The restaurant is located in the comfortable Das Freiberg hotel, which is nestled in the picturesque landscape of the Allgäu Alps.

Ondersch Genusswirtschaft

Modern Cuisine, Farm to table

€€

Going by the name "Ondersch" (a dialect word meaning different), this establishment located in the multipurpose "LOFT" building offers a street-food restaurant with a bar and the Genusswirtschaft gourmet restaurant. On the upper floor, a lively, urban atmosphere provides the setting for tasty modern cuisine made from seasonal and regional produce.

DAS MAXI - GENUSSREICH

Seasonal Cuisine, International

€€€

Das Maxi has proven to be a successful addition to Das Freiberg hotel and is an appealing dining option – and not only for hotel guests. The kitchen specialises in contemporary, mostly Mediterranean dishes with seasonal influences. In addition to the set menu, which changes daily, there is also a small à la carte selection. Food is served in tastefully designed dining areas, and there is additional garden seating available for the summer months. The wine list, featuring international labels, is second to none. The gorgeous guestrooms have magnificent views of the mountains.

Silberdistel

Classic Cuisine · ★ Michelin

€€€€

The Sonnenalp Resort, which has been run by the Fäßler family since 1919, is definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in fine dining. Silberdistel's kitchen team uses select seasonal ingredients. The "Weitblick" menu with up to seven courses is offered. Tip: Before, with or between the courses you can order caviar from Walter Grüll from Salzburg. On Fridays and Sundays there are classics. Here on the fourth floor, you are afforded wonderful views, so be sure to ask for a window seat. Having said that, the restaurant interior itself, with its blend of stylish elegance and Alpine charm, is

Humbachstube

Classic Cuisine, Modern Cuisine

€€€

The Alpenhof Jäger hotel's restaurant may be small but what it lacks in size it makes up for in atmosphere! With plenty of wood, a tiled stove and pretty decorations, the cosy and homely Humbachstube is completely in keeping with the rustic charm of the 380-year-old regional-style building in which it is located. In the kitchen, Florian Jäger and his father Martin cook with market produce, creating dishes based on the classic repertoire, such as sirloin of local mountain lamb roasted with aromatics, fresh spinach leaves and potato and Parmesan gnocchi. The wine list is all about Austria's own

La Vallée - Das Bistro im Casino

In the casino building in the centre of Riezlern, a seasoned duo bring dedication to the table. Charming and competent restaurant manager Lillian Roth looks after diners; meanwhile chef-patron Sascha Kemmerer (known from Kilian Stuba in A-ROSA Ifen Hotel Kleinwalsertal in Hirschegg) is in charge of the kitchen. His dishes draw on French classics and impress with their craftsmanship, flavour and the quality of the ingredients underpinning them. The atmosphere is inviting and friendly: modern bistro style, Alpine details from bygone days, such as tiled stoves and wood-panelled ceilings, and "Cul
