De Lindenhof
Creative, Classic French · ★★ Michelin

De Lindenhof offers a unique experience that starts with the location: a splendid farmhouse with a thatched roof that exudes character and elegance. The English garden is magnificent – the scene could not be more idyllic! Out back is the chef's little sailing boat, in which he likes to cruise the canals (sometimes taking guests with him!). There are also luxurious guestrooms for a relaxing stay. But the main draws are the enthusiastic service provided by hostess Marjan and the ingredient-led cuisine of Martin Kruithof, a traditional chef who has moved with the times. Jilt Cazemier is certainly close to his suppliers: as you make your way to his restaurant, you will even spot the grazing lambs. A champion of local produce, he showcases its quality with consummate skill. When he prepares that locally raised lamb, he utilises the whole animal, from nose to tail. The depth of flavour of his main ingredient is enhanced by his intense sauces. His refined technique is evident in every dish, his playful garnishes providing refreshing contrasts. For example, he elevates lobster with a blend of salty herbs, a carrot puree with a bright orange flavour, a rich lobster

De Librije is a culinary institution that has held three MICHELIN Stars since 2004. Today, artisanal local ingredients, a vegetable-forward approach, inventive techniques and the use of fermentation to create bright acidity have become commonplace, and that is thanks in part to the late Jonnie Boer. He was the most influential Dutch chef of his generation, whose life was cut tragically short. His distinctive style of cooking lives on, revered by the fantastic team at De Librije. This is bold cuisine that leaves a long-lasting impression. Pike-perch from the IJsselmeer, for example, is cooked u

Restobar de Woage

Set within a charming old building in Gramsbergen, this modern restobar is an inviting spot where even a glance at the extensive menu is sure to bring a smile to your face. Chef Jelle Jansen is a devotee of authentic flavours and puts his ingredients centre stage. Highlights include medium-rare grilled entrecôte with a stroganoff sauce infused with smoked sausage, served with crispy fries. The rich tiramisu is simply irresistible, right down to the last spoonful. This is a place with something for everyone, prepared by a seasoned chef who is attuned to what diners want.

Lars Aukema is a chef who does not need top-of-the-range ingredients to create exciting dishes. Having worked under the tutelage of Jonnie Boer for a long time, he has now proven himself to be a dab hand at showcasing flavours from the region and around the globe. He combines, for instance, yellowtail tartare with crunchy kohlrabi, topped with yellowtail sashimi and dusted with black cardamom and kaffir lime zest. Lime gel, marinated green strawberry and a fermented kohlrabi broth add the finishing touches to this understated dish. This is a subtle flavour combination you won't forget. This is

Many restaurants may claim to have the kind of atmosphere in which diners feel at home, but here it really is the case. This place is located on the charming Nieuwe Markt and has a terrace that overlooks the square. Inside, driftwood and drying herbs hang from the ceiling, and the large wine wall gives the contemporary decor individuality. This is a cosy setting, and diners clearly come to have a good time. Jonnie and Thérèse Boer have built up a kitchen team that loves working with produce from Zwolle and manages to create dishes that are original but not overly complex. Our inspectors were b

Classic country elegance and a setting radiating natural charm await you at this stunning estate. Inside, the wooden beams, terracotta floor and crackling fire create a special atmosphere. Regional ingredients come into their own in indulgent dishes. The tasting menu is outstanding, but the à la carte options – such as the classic tournedos Rossini – are equally tempting. For example, chef Berry Thüss serves a terrine of succulent short rib and white leek, with crispy asparagus tempura, al dente vegetables and an onion dressing. Definitely worth the journey!

De Gaffel offers a dining experience steeped in rustic charm, beneath the thatched roof of a Saxon farmhouse warmed by a crackling open fire. The chef grows his own vegetables on site. He works with the finest ingredients and accentuates their quality with contemporary techniques. Featuring dishes such as an original take on vitello tonnato, and tender venison with a patiently reduced jus, a single surprise menu is served – you can choose to have four or five courses. Either way, the depth of the flavours and excellent value for money are guaranteed to have you smitten.
