Are you searching for authentic Douro cuisine? Within the luxurious boutique hotel Torel Quinta da Vacaria (one MICHELIN Key), linked to a wine estate whose origins date back to 1616, you can discover it through the hands of the award-winning chef Vítor Matos. Behind the name Schistó, a play on words referencing one of the region’s best-known stones (schist), you will find a modern restaurant with an open kitchen and surrounding tables, allowing you to follow the chefs’ work at all times as they interact with diners while serving the dishes and offering explanations. They say the Casa da Calçada hotel, the 16th-century palace that houses Largo do Paço, is made “of stones and dreams”. The truth, without doubt, is that it captivates with its location and can be the perfect touch during your visit to the beautiful city of Amarante, one of Portugal’s most romantic destinations. The restaurant, running smoothly under the baton of talented chef Francisco Quintas, surprises with an easy contemporary comfort, bare tables and modern details that still feel elegant. It champions two modern tasting menus (13 or 15 moments, both with pairing options) that bring togeth

One of its most striking features is its location, as it repurposed a century-old freight warehouse, situated at the city’s railway station. In this charming space, fully renovated and considered a tourist attraction in the region, the cooking is rooted in tradition and heritage, yet not devoid of creativity. The selection includes à la carte options (cod cataplana with chickpeas, cabbage and low-temperature egg; Trás-os-Montes couscous with grilled vegetables; Caisdavilla-style sponge cake...) and a 5-course tasting menu featuring a range of dishes on the menu.

This cosy restaurant on the banks of the River Douro, it boasts a classic and sophisticated ambience, plus a completely open dining room with a view of the kitchen, and superb vistas through the large picture windows. The fireplace and wood-fired oven take centre stage here, alongside cuisine that revisits the flavours of the Douro Valley’s time-honoured kitchens, albeit with a more contemporary vision.

Looking for a peaceful refuge surrounded by nature? This is the ideal spot. The restaurant is located at Quinta do Seixo, home to the iconic Sandeman Port wines, on the banks of the Douro and surrounded by century-old vineyards. Here, you can pair one of the available wine experiences with a memorable meal bearing the signature of renowned chef Vasco Coelho Santos. The menu reflects seasonality and regional produce, with fire shining both on the grill and in the wood-fired oven, turning out traditional dishes with a contemporary twist, such as Barriga de porco, pork belly, with beans and a cou

If you are looking for a place with good food and breathtaking views… this is the perfect spot. Located on the famous namesake estate, at the confluence of the Douro and Tejo rivers, the restaurant, run by the Geadas brothers, chef Óscar Geadas and sommelier António Geadas, offers a welcoming atmosphere, with large windows that allow you to enjoy, without interruption, a truly spectacular landscape.
