Hotel Pian del Sole

You pass through beautiful hilly scenery to get to Cartosio, where you’ll find this typical country house specialising in local cuisine. Although it’s been in business for several decades, during which nine different generations have been at the helm, the formula has (fortunately!) hardly changed, with a focus on Piedmontese dishes made from top-quality local and seasonal ingredients, with the main courses still cooked on the wood-fired stove. The wine list includes some excellent vertical labels, especially from the main wineries in the Langhe. Simple yet attractive guestrooms are also availa

With Fausto front of house, his wife Rosella at the helm in the kitchen and daughter Gaia who not only works in the dining room but is also responsible for the desserts, this restaurant celebrates Piedmontese cuisine on a menu that changes weekly in order to ensure that ingredients are fresh and seasonal. Meat takes centre stage, alongside excellent fresh pasta dishes (such as the famous agnolotti) and delicious desserts including fiordilatte ice-cream. The wine cellar is well stocked, thanks to the restaurant’s own production of Pinot Nero (dry and sparkling labels), while for anyone wanting

Situated in the picturesque historic centre of Celle, this old boathouse with a typical brick ceiling is now home to an excellent gourmet restaurant, where a young chef creates some of the most interesting dishes in the region.

Situated in a picturesque medieval village in the Monferrato hills, this restaurant serves classic Piedmontese cuisine with plenty of meat options, alongside a few specialties from the chef’s native Liguria, including fish and seafood dishes.

Situated in the historic centre near the ceramic museum (some of its pieces are also on display in the restaurant), Bino Ricchebuono boasts an attractive outdoor space in a charming small square. Michelin-starred chef Ricchebuono from Noli is the brains behind this restaurant, which serves fish and meat dishes prepared with a touch of creativity.

Recently opened in the renovated section of Corso Italia in central Savona, Quintogusto is a small, contemporary and minimalist-style restaurant occupying one side of the former hospital. Here, the owner-chef (once sous-chef at the excellent Michelin-starred Il Vescovado in Noli) cements his reputation with Ligurian-influenced cuisine to which he adds his own modern and imaginative touches.
