The location is a draw in itself! Named after its address at Edlmairstraße 1, the restaurant is housed on the ninth floor of the Karl-Turm, a high-rise office building. The interior is modern and elegant, with design features such as striking lampshades suspended from an industrial-style ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows that afford sensational views of the historic Old Town and the Danube – the sunsets from here are wonderful. The integrated bar in the entrance area is the perfect spot for a pre-dinner cocktail. The modern cuisine is based on French culinary tradition and incorporates Ital

Here, you can really switch off and focus on enjoying yourself and soaking up the atmosphere, because no mobile phone signals can penetrate the thick walls of this 16C manor. The estate has been in the family since 1882, and chef Mathias Achatz represents the fifth generation at the helm. His dishes draw on modern and classical influences; sometimes complex, sometimes more pared down, they always involve extremely accurate craftsmanship and high-quality ingredients. In an inviting, traditional-looking setting, you are treated to charming and attentive service – this is the domain of the chef's

This long-established inn has been run by the same family since 1612 and is now in the capable hands of Alexander Huber. Following a change in concept, the property now comprises two venues: the traditionally Bavarian Wirtshaus Huberwirt and Restaurant Alexander Huber. The latter serves as the fine dining counterpart and a presents a five- or seven-course tasting menu comprising dishes such as turbot with mussel chowder, artichoke, preserved lemon and cured egg yolk, or Pleiskirchen duck – breast and dumpling with shoyu, ginger, salsify and pointed cabbage. On the first floor of the former monastery building, the "Modlersäle" provide a striking setting with high ceilings, beautiful stucco work and paintings – tastefully combining a period backdrop with clean contemporary interior design. The cuisine is modern in inspiration and guided by the seasons. The menu balances international flair with regional roots – the "grilled octopus, textures of chickpea, tomato salad, basil essence" or the "duo of beef – roasted entrecôte & praline of braised shoulder" are fine examples. On warm summer days, the terrace in the cloister garden is idyllic! Service is

Armed with valuable experience gained in top establishments, Marcel von Winckelmann has struck out on his own with this restaurant with an open and friendly vibe. The centrepiece is the horseshoe-shaped chef's table wrapped around the visible kitchen, where you are right in the middle of the action. You can really sense the young team's enthusiasm for interacting with diners – this creates a personalised and authentic atmosphere. The seasonal cooking uses selected ingredients. There is one five-course and one seven-course set menu, with dishes such as Norway lobster, pumpkin, sea buckthorn or

Having run their business with great success in a former ferry house in Bad Tölz for a number of years, Erich and Katharina Schwingshackl have returned to the very place in Lower Bavaria where the story of Schwingshackl ESSKULTUR began. Housed in Naturhotel Rebling, in a beautiful and peaceful location surrounded by idyllic countryside, this elegant little restaurant serves classic cuisine as a set menu comprising five to seven courses in the evening. Dishes such as "crustacean bisque, Norwegian scallop, mango" and "saddle of lamb from Gutshof Polting, aubergine, beans, pepper" stand out for t

The culinary centrepiece at Hotel Oswald! This elegant fine dining restaurant is situated in the basement of the Landromantik Wellnesshotel Oswald located in Kaikenried, a Bavarian Forest village with a population of some 550 people. Thomas Gerber has been chef here since 2014, after holding a number of positions in renowned kitchens. His modern-inspired set menu comprises four to eight courses; classic in their foundations, the dishes are crafted with the utmost precision. You'll need to look up the way to this old country inn located in the middle of the Bavarian Forest. But it's well worth heading off the beaten path for the excellent food, which takes the form of two set menus, dubbed "Classic" and "Inspiration". Chef-patron Michael Klaus Ammon showcases precise craftsmanship, bold flavours and a knack for balancing aromas and textures in dishes such as his variations on duck liver – consisting of fried liver, terrine and ice cream – with the fruity kick of pineapple, dark chocolate and toasted brioche with truffle.
