Haute cuisine in the heart of the Alentejo? This restaurant is located in the Paço do Morgado de Oliveira, a 14th-century building restored in full respect of its original structure and, in turn, set within the Fitapreta winery, surrounded by vineyards and meadows where cattle graze. Here, in an intimate yet sophisticated setting, the connection between the culinary world and that of viticulture is constant. Upon arrival, you are guided on an immersive journey while the story of the house is told, with aperitifs and stops both on the terrace and in the kitchen, a space that preserves the charm

It’s located on a narrow cobbled street in the historic centre, relatively close to the castle that dominates the city. Its modest façade gives way to a not-too-large but cosy rustic-style space, whose décor revolves around the world of bullfighting. Here, you’ll find traditional cuisine specialising in meats, almost always featuring a dish made from fighting bull in honour of the Forcados, a typical art of Portuguese bullfighting that both the owner and his father practised successfully. Try their famous fighting bull kebab and, if possible... don’t miss the Portuguese stew (cozido) served up

It offers great comfort and surprises by virtue of its location in the heart of the Alentejo countryside, in the splendid, modern hotel L’AND Vineyards Relais & Châteaux. The dining experience features creative cuisine with traditional foundations, drawing inspiration from the chef's personal experiences and memories. The menu, mostly enjoyed by the hotel’s guests, is presented in an à la carte format and through two tasting menus: Expedição ("Expedition") in 8 moments and Caminhos (“Paths”) served in 12 moments, both inspired by Portuguese travels and the flavours of its former colonies. It is also self-sufficient in vegetables, as it has its own market garden that provides all of its organic ingredients. If you’re thinking of trying fried sweetbreads, a chunk of veal, wood-fired slow-cooked chanfana (goat stew), or even confit pork cheeks from black pigs, there’s no better place than Casa do Chef Victor Felisberto. The specialty here is meat, cooked — mostly slowly — in a wood-fired oven, ensuring extremely succulent textures and deeper flavours. Additionally, the restaurant’s incredible signature fondants, as well as the bread baked in the same oven, should not be forgotten. With experience in renowned restaurants, the chef strives to share his interpretation of regional cuisine, blending tra

It is in the tranquil streets and historic setting of Montemor‑o‑Novo that you find PODA. This restaurant occupies a former agricultural warehouse, fully restored, and presents an elegant ambience that preserves the rustic details of its past life. Chef João Narigueta and sommelier Miguel Dominguinhos, long‑time friends, joined forces in this project to create a space where traditional Alentejo cuisine is revived and presented with decidedly pronounced flavours. The offering includes a tasting menu (5 courses) and a concise à la carte menu, which offers, among the options, the soup of the day

This centrally located restaurant with a welcoming feel comes as something of a surprise, as it is accessed via a bar- gourmet shop that has the feel of an authentic grocery store. In the rustic-contemporary dining room, featuring exposed wood beams and even a table for two in the fireplace, choose from an extensive menu combining regionally inspired dishes (crispy prawns, scrambled eggs, different black pork recipes) with those with a more international feel, all of which are prepared with a subtle, modern touch.
