Tabaiba

fine_dining · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Located just a few metres from Las Canteras beach and taking its name from a native flower, Tabaiba enjoys surprising its guests with what it describes as its “evolutionary Canary Island cuisine”. In this small contemporary space, chef Abraham Ortega (who, along with his team, is usually seen sporting his typical sombrero), offers guests his highly personal and entertaining cuisine that takes seemingly humble Canarian cooking to new heights thanks to his superb technique and seasonal ingredients sourced from each of the islands. He also adds touches of sentimentality, such as the tribute to hi

Muxgo

Creative · ★ Michelin

€€€€

Muxgo is part of the luxury Santa Catalina Royal Hideaway hotel, where the cooking is an ode to sustainable and organic cuisine. In its bright dining room, decorated with watercolours by artist Ana Beltrán and a mural that reflects some of chef Borja Marrero’s favourite ingredients, the latter conjures up creative and contemporary dishes that are always based around ingredients rooted in the DNA of the Canary Islands and, first and foremost, those grown on his own farm (pine bark, millet, prickly pear, meal from his own cattle etc). Dining options are centred around three tasting menus (Los Or

A dazzling dining experience both in terms of the elegant setting and the gastronomic cuisine on offer in the exclusive and historic Santa Catalina hotel, a Royal Hideaway Hotel, in the heart of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. At the helm you’ll find chef Adrián García, from nearby Arucas, who has been superbly trained by the Padrón brothers (Juan Carlos and Jonathan) and who recreates the flavoursome cuisine of these award-winning chefs along with all of their renowned creativity. This dining space, which has its own separate entrance next to the hotel piano-bar (where a pianist provides the musi

Located close to the Las Alcaravaneras beach, this restaurant with a modern-contemporary feel reflects the personality of owner-chef Carmelo Florido. It boasts a cohort of admirers thanks to its focus on quality products that combine perfectly with tradition and innovation to seemingly perform the impossible and to always showcase the region’s different products. In this modern and contemporary setting, make sure you try the delicious “ceviche canario”, the “carajacas (sautéed veal liver with caramelised onion, garlic and potato sticks) and the egg-based “huevos moles” accompanied by the islan

Nákar

Contemporary

€€

Located close to Las Canteras beach, Nákar boasts a minimalist contemporary decor that provides the backdrop for an updated take on traditional cuisine with a nod to recipes from the Basque Country and Navarra. The à la carte, which includes interesting dishes such as goat taco and an array of savoury rices, is complemented by a 7-course tasting menu entitled Nákar.

Regional Cuisine, Fusion

€€

Halfway between Plaza del Pilar and the magnificent Las Canteras beach, this curious establishment, a kind of bistro inspired by the different landscapes of the Canary Islands (taking its name from a plant endemic to the islands), is a more informal approach from acclaimed chef Abraham Ortega (Tabaiba, with a Michelin star). Here he sets his creativity to one side in favour of good regional cuisine, brought up to date with light touches of fusion. On the menu, which is designed for sharing (half portions are available at the bar and on the terrace), we particularly liked the combination of gri

Hikari Japanese Roots

Japanese

€€€

Located just a few minutes’ walk from the San Telmo park, this small Japanese-inspired eatery has a dining counter for just nine guests (the best option in our view) and several tables, where experienced chef David Rivero takes us by the hand on a journey across the best flavours found in Japanese cuisine. He does this via a single surprise Omakase menu (with an extra main course option available for a supplement) that he explains in detail to every guest at the same time, hence his requirement for customers to be punctual. Because of the restaurant’s success, we recommend booking in advance.

El Santo

Modern Cuisine, Traditional Cuisine

€€

El Santo boasts an excellent location in the Triana district, a part of the old town with a special beauty and character that result from its original occupation by residents who settled here mainly from Andalucía. The restaurant features a pleasantly surprising decor that combines the stone walls of this restored property with attractive tropical details. To this backdrop, guests can savour bold cuisine that showcases typical Canary island recipes, with a fusion of Mexican cooking visible in some dishes. Don’t miss the black “papa arrugada” potatoes with mojo “snow” and mole mojo!
