In the small, bespoke dining rooms – our favourite is the more traditional one, where the warmth of the fogolar fireplace and the crackling of the embers accompany the owner's interactions with guests – this charming stone and brick house, surrounded by a wooded park, tells the story of the local area through its aromas and flavours. Charcoal grilling is the beating heart of the kitchen, releasing intense aromas that waft through the air; the creamy, comforting risottos are surprisingly well-balanced, an excellent example being that with clams, saffron and courgette flowers. Le Fucine Gourmet
Creative, Contemporary

The modern Le Fucine hotel is home to two restaurants with almost identical names: Le Fucine Brasserie and, of course, Le Fucine Gourmet. The latter welcomes guests into an elegant dining room featuring contemporary, minimalist design: clean lines and spotlights that caress the tables, creating an intimate atmosphere. In the centre, like a live stage, is the open kitchen, where chef Andrea Fantini, from Friuli, moves with confident gestures amidst steam and aromas, sharing the experiences he has accumulated over time with every dish. Two tasting menus invite you on a sensory journey: the first

Housed in a beautiful historic building, this business, originally a wine bar (hence the name “enoteca”), gradually developed into a restaurant over the years. The menu focuses uniquely on fish, almost all of which comes from the Adriatic, showcased in traditional dishes enhanced with a creative twist.

This perfectly restored old mill is home to a chef who creates original cuisine that demonstrates her connection with her region and showcases ingredients grown in the restaurant’s own kitchen garden, especially the aromatic herbs that are a characteristic feature of many of the dishes served here. Antonia Klugmann’s house stands in attractive unspoilt scenery near the Slovenian border and in the middle of two major wine-producing areas, namely the Colli Orientali del Friuli and the better-known Collio, both of which are well represented on the extensive wine list.

Fish and wine are the soul of this historic restaurant, where the scent of the sea meets the fragrance of the vineyards. The catch, which is among the finest on the market, yields the most delicious dishes: the fish soup with shellfish, enveloped in a Buzara jus that releases intense flavours, is an absolute must. The wine cellar, with a selection of 25,000 bottles, takes you on a journey through the Collio and Colli Orientali hills, enriched by great Italian and international labels and big bottles for real winelovers. A destination to add to your diary if you love authentic and memorable exp

AB Osteria Contemporanea
Modern Cuisine
€€
A small village just a few kilometres from Udine provides the backdrop for modern, regionally influenced cuisine with plenty of character. The renovated dining rooms have two distinct styles: the one near the entrance is friendly and relaxed; the other has a much more formal ambience. The large outdoor space is perfect for summer dining.
