Tatsu Dallas

Japanese, Sushi · ★ Michelin

$$$$

With just 10 counter seats, the greatest challenge is securing a reservation at this sushi restaurant within the renovated Continental Gin Building – but perseverance will be rewarded because this is the genuine article. The omakase contains around 14 pieces and follows the edomae tradition, so expect fish that gets steadily stronger in flavor as dinner progresses. You might start with Alaskan sockeye salmon, followed by Spanish tuna and delicious uni from Hokkaido and end with eel from Maine. The rice is also from Hokkaido and Chef Tatsuya Sekiguchi’s deft, practiced movements ensure each pie

Một Hai Ba

Fusion, Vietnamese · Bib

You could easily drive right by this standalone building tucked behind an auto repair shop, but one bite of Chef Peja Krstic's cooking and you won't soon forget the address. Inside, wood floors and exposed brick add charm to this narrow space where Serbian-born Krstic turns out contemporary cuisine with Vietnamese and French influences and decidedly Texan touches. The mashup is especially intriguing, offering an interesting journey with dishes such as steamed bao filled with beef brisket and a shallot marmalade, or crispy tempura squash blossoms filled with pork and shrimp with nuoc cham vinai

Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen

Vietnamese · Bib

Ngon Vietnamese Kitchen reflects owner Carol Nguyen’s desire to share the flavors of her homeland with Dallas. The welcoming Lower Greenville space features rustic wood accents and subtle nods to Vietnamese tradition, creating a lively, comfortable setting for groups and families alike. The menu draws inspiration from the street food of Hanoi, with a wide range of classic dishes. Generous plates like green papaya salad layered with herbs and house-made beef jerky, as well as hearty noodle bowls topped with chargrilled pork and crisp imperial rolls, highlight the kitchen’s fresh, balanced appro

Gemma

$$$

Gemma is a charming spot from the husband-and-wife team of Chef Stephen Rogers and Allison Yoder. The couple met while working at Napa Valley's Press and returned to Rogers's home state to open this intimate spot in Dallas that highlights contemporary American cooking with a seasonal focus. The evening begins with a simple sounding but sinfully delicious warm raisin scone. Fried Castelvetrano olives mixed with fragrant Texas pecans are a delight, but it's cooking like the roasted heirloom carrots or the Idaho trout almondine that make a meal here memorable. Quarter Acre

Contemporary

$$$

Here the name embodies a pastoral suburban ideal, while the strikingly chic space flaunts an airy forest-meets-island aesthetic, both nodding to Chef/owner Toby Archibald’s New Zealand roots. His cuisine walks a line between flashiness and substance, blending broadly international flavors with classical European technique and polished presentation. Diners may explore the à la carte offerings or opt for a multicourse tasting that traces the kitchen’s evolving perspective, moving from carefully composed seafood and raw preparations to more expressive, fire-kissed dishes. Tei-An

$$$$

The Arts District and Tei-An are a perfect fit, as this Japanese restaurant provides an elegant and cultured experience in an aesthetically striking environment. Opened back in 2008, it has also played an important role in nurturing the city’s love affair with Japanese cuisine. The menu is varied and extensive, allowing diners to decide their own level of expense and experimentation. There’s everything from tonkatsu to tempura, as well as dishes like grilled freshwater eel (which comes with its crisped spine as you’d get in Japan), but its house-made soba and udon noodles—served cold or hot—ar

The sweeping, opulent space sets the tone for an indulgent experience—this is a place where guests dress to impress and should expect an extravagant meal. The menu spans classic as well as contemporary luxury, blending French and Italian fare, from carpaccio to crab cakes to corn and truffle beignets. Diners can nibble on canapés like a lobster roll on a petite brioche bun, or sample fusilli with caviar and fontina, and might proceed to more substantial fare, including showy tableside presentations like Dover sole with lobster beurre blanc, or a Texas wagyu beef Wellington. Knox Bistro

French

$$$

There’s an experienced team of French émigrés behind this bright and breezy bistro and it shows in all departments. This may be a French bistro—and one that’s a perfect fit for sophisticated Knox Street—but it doesn’t overdo the Gallic decoration. Instead, it concentrates on offering authentic and satisfying classics that’ll have you dreaming of weekends in Montmartre in no time. Lunch sees a simpler menu but one that includes a fine rillettes de poisson and a selection of oysters. At dinner all the French bistro favorites appear, like lapin à la moutarde or canard à l'orange; and for dessert,
