After many years as a MICHELIN-starred chef in his restaurant near Poitiers, Richard Toix has found in the heights of Porticcio an ideal setting for his delicate, flavoursome cuisine. With a sure hand and impeccable taste, he delivers cosmopolitan cuisine, blending influences from Corsica and the French mainland, as well as from stints in Asia, which have nourished his imagination and his palette. His cuisine is particularly attuned to flavours, a case in point being the apricot, tomato, anchovy starter, or the delicious dessert of honey and Brocciu cheese, an ode to the "Island of Beauty". This endearing restaurant, slightly off the historic town’s crowded tourist track, offers fresh, seasonal, expertly crafted Mediterranean cuisine, such as brandade of forkbeard fish, bottarga and a peppery piquillo cream. The dinky terrace is invariably taken by storm in summertime. Infectiously cosy welcome. A genuine bijou of an eatery.

Perched on the rooftop of a hotel, this place delivers a stunning view of Ajaccio, the bay and the surrounding mountains. Thanks to modular wall sections, panels can be opened and closed at will, depending on the weather. In the open kitchen, chef Franck Radiu can be seen working hard to a soundtrack of electronic music. A local man, and a pastry chef by training, he serves up a well-paced meal that makes the most of the riches of Corsica's terroir. On this occasion: a spider crab cannelloni, with a twist in the form of grapefruit supremes; sea bream on potato patties topped with a delicious b

In the heart of historic Ajaccio, this restaurant may be small by name, but it thinks big! Seasoned chef Vincent Boucher crafts a repertory that extends far beyond the Mediterranean with the overriding goal of creating modern dishes with a dash of creativity and the odd exotic tribute. On the menu you may find a 65° boiled egg, gently sautéed onions and local charcuterie; low temperature poultry breast, seasonal veggies, velvety mash and a gutsy gravy; fleur de sel crumble, sorbet flavoured with verbena from the garden, foamy mascarpone and a light dusting of fig leaves and Corsican strawberri

English born chef Simon Andrews, a former Michelin star holder, fell head over heels with Corsica. He goes to the market every day to painstakingly select local ingredients, which he then meticulously crafts: red tuna, denti, seabass, brocciu, veal, etc. Some of his signature dishes are always on the menu, such as grilled squid or his medley of local fish, to the delight of regulars and tourists alike. The chef also enjoys scattering his dishes with wild marjoram (“nepita”, after which the restaurant is named). The cheerful front-of-house service is managed by Simon’s wife, Corsican born Rober

Could this pink-rendered villa, decked in flowers and overlooking the gulf, have found the secret of authentic Corsican food? Whatever the case, you can be certain that you will sample wholehearted, full-bodied dishes made with first-class ingredients in keeping with time-honoured culinary traditions: nothing goes to waste from pig’s trotters to tails, the meat is slowly spit-roasted on the open fire or the lady of the house hovering nearby to check you finish your plate. Beverages included in the menu. Highly recommended.

A throwback to another time in this establishment with a slightly old-fashioned atmosphere, where Mediterranean cuisine with Corsican influences is served on the very pleasant terrace facing the sea. Lobster, fish from small-scale local fishermen… and fricassee of lobster with buttered capellini, the house speciality. The wine is served by the glass from magnums, which is a nice touch! More limited menu at lunchtime.

A cosy, inviting atmosphere reigns in this restaurant that first welcomed guests in 1860 in its former life as a coaching inn. It's been a family affair since 1997, when father René Orlandazzi bought the place – today his sons have taken over the reins. Charcuterie, cheeses and honey from the valley, vegetables from the garden, simple dishes simmered for hours on the stove, tarts made with fruit from the orchard, over 200 Corsican wines... Timeless! In fine weather, you might like to take advantage of the large terrace surrounded by greenery overlooking the Prunelli.
